Okay, so I get my truck washed at the same place every time and have had the same problem about 50% of the time I go there.

After they wash the truck, I get back in and drive away. The problem occurs when I go to shut the truck off. I turn the key to off and pull the keys out but the truck wont shut off. It just keep running as if the key was still in and in the run position.

I'll put the key back in, turn to start, turn to run, turn back off and nothing, still running. Sometimes doing this 3-4 times It will shut off. Other times I just pull the key out, walk in the house and after about 3-5 minutes it'll shut off and wont do it again.

I cant repeat the problem. It just happens every so ofter, but always after I leave the car wash.

The truck has no alarm (other than factory) and had no remote start or cool-down timer. The only thing I do notice is that sometimes the Passlock (little lock icon) icon light will lit sometimes after I start it up at the car wash.

Cant see to figure it out and I know if I take it into the dealer, they will not find anything as I cant and they most likely will not be able to repeat the problem.

Any ideas????

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Take it straight to the dealer after a wash and show him in person.

I could do that, but the bad part about that is I will have to plan a good few days to do that, to give me time to pull all the crap off the truck, get it washed, and hopefully make it to the dealer in time.

Couple of problems with the idea is,

1- pulling the LP tank out by myself is a b!tch.
2- I'd have to drive to the car wash and to the dealer without the tunes,LP, and the oxide. That would really bum me out...almost would rather live with the issue (as it only happens maybe once a month) than to go a day with the addictions.
3 Did I mention the LP tank being a real pain in the @$$ to do by myself....

I do appreciate the idea DD, hopefully someone might have a idea as to possibly why it's doing this.

All the removal sounds like a lot of work.

Well obviouslly water is getting to some wires and causing a electrical path that keeps the engine running, SO
1. Does the car wash have a underbody sprayer? Tell them to not use it and see if it helps.
2. Check all electrical connections that you can see under the truck and even under the hood, maybe the high pressure water or blow dryer's is blowing the water into a connection.
3. Check around the starter motor.
4. Next time it does it leave the truck running and start checking connections that might be wet.
5. If you see something that is suspect, spray it with wd-40, it should displace the water.
6.Try going a longer way home or run it up on the highway maybe it will dry out.
7. Strange that it dosent happen in the rain.
8. This is why I hate electrical problem's there are always so many possible causes, and you spend more time trying to Find the problem than actually fixing it.
9. Good Luck

Does the heater, radio and everything stay on just as if the key was never turned off?

Do they also clean the interior when this happens?
