: TPMS sensors in new set of wheels, but truck has no reader...

I have a 2000 Chevy K3500 6.5L 4x4, and just replaced the LT245/75/16's with some like new 8-lug rims/tires with 500 miles I bought off craigslist (wheels came off a 2008 GMC truck) for $600 cash as-is. I didn't know it at the time, but the prior owner just contacted me asking for his TPMS sensors back. I had to look it up to figure out what he was asking for, but apparently they measure tire pressure. My truck has very few options, and I'm sure does not have a built in reader hidden anywhere, so my questions are:

1. What is involved with removing the sensors?

2. Who legally owns them at this point? (I ask because I don't feel I should be the one to bear the expense of pulling them out.)

3. If the prior owner doesn't want to pay for removing them, is there any harm in just leaving them in there? Is there a reader I could get that would work with them?

Thanks
Matt

He should pay for their removal, as they are yours but I would think he would offer to do that. If he won't pay to remove them tell him tough.

He can buy some off of ebay. I'm selling some that end tomorrow. :D

1. What is involved with removing the sensors?
Removing tire from rim, removing sensor and/or valve stem from rim, reinstalling tires
2. Who legally owns them at this point? (I ask because I don't feel I should be the one to bear the expense of pulling them out.)
You do
3. If the prior owner doesn't want to pay for removing them, is there any harm in just leaving them in there? Is there a reader I could get that would work with them?
No harm, no reader, don't worry about it.

Thanks, I emailed the seller and told him he could have them back but that it would involve the cost of removing the tires, new valve stems, and remounting/balancing + an hour of my time... I haven't heard back from him yet.

Thanks again,
Matt
