I know moderators might move this. But anyone else have the housing explode for the nuckle. Passenger side next to diff. Posted here to see if STOCK trucks are doing the same. Bad castings?
Here is my problem.
07.5 4 dr long box
fabtech 8 inch lift and 37 inch tires.

I was pulling my 40 ft 5 th wheel. I had tires turned in 4 wd low and ripped the passenger side axle shaft OUT of the nuckle. So I replaced the shaft. It was 1400.00 from dealer...No rebuilt units out yet. New trucks are different.
Budy got one for 800. Still alot of money. But figured this was my fault. Way to extreme.
Everything has been fine now.
Yesterday used 4 wd in snow on a job sight. 6 inch of snow and a little mud.
Wheels were straight. In 4 high And bang. The knuckle exploded.
I called fabtech. they said I prob bent the dif brackets. So its out of allignment the first time and now it did it again.
I looked and there not bent.
Might get lucky. budy might be able to warranty the shaft i bought.
There are spacers to make shafts longer because of lift. There only like 3/8 thick. My 03 truck were much thicker. I was thinking about adding thicker spacers.
Fabtech said at full compression the shafts might hit then.
But if you look your lucky if these trucks even move 5 inches of travel. There to stiff. Its not like we are raceing the baja.
Fabtech will not be my first choice in lifts from here on out.
Anyone else have a problem.

I'm no expert on lifts, but an 8" lift and 37 inch tires could be causing undo strain on the system depending on goemetry and the extra rotating mass. Also, if your lift doesn't make adjustments for the angles of the drivetrain, there could be some additional issues.

As for stock, I have not busted anything in 4wd.

calling fabtech to get wider spacers

If your A-arms are cranked up it will produce way to much stress... yo should only have about 1-1.5" inbetween your bump stops and the lower a-arm... when I had mine cranked up I broke mine as well which is why im asking... ;)

im running 37 inch tires and they hit a little now....My bump stops are shaved. I like how stock trucks are sitting on bump stops. How do they work?
SO
Maybe up to high? So wider spacers should fix it by getting nuckle in cup farther

there is the carnage.

Now
The 2 shafts.. The longer and weeker looking is in the new 7.5 and up.
The other is old like 01 to 07. Its also about 2 inches shorter. Look how big the casting is comparred 2 new ones. Week crap.

If you call part houses the new trucks take the same as the old. They are wrong. Not long enough. You have to removw ABS ring they say and thats it.

So for now I took new shaft I had (extra)and just took cv apart and put just nuckle on so I can drive it.

Got a guy in phoenix that wants to build. Leave cv at axles as is. He than wants to put a 1350 servicable U joint at other end with flange to bolt to axle plate.
He said 450 bucks per side. new shaft from gm . I was wrong its like $1100. and my budy gets a deal at $460.

For 225 dollars he will take my old one. Remove fabtech spacer and weld cv star on end of shaft out farther. I know it sounds bad but he has done about 50 of them so far. This makes the angle less by no spacer and making shaft longer.

I have a few choices. Or drive a round in a bad as LOOKING truck. Looks cool put no go in 4x4. Shes a road queen anyway.

My best option if I could swing it is . Put a DANA 60 under the front and let it rip.
