You and I must be working on the same project, I too am looking for a non-EGR upper intake. I was thinking about welding a 90° elbow right into the center of the intake and plumbing the air into it. I will be using a standard intercooler so the intake will come from the other side of the engine.

right! i can turn it around and make the intake on the drivers side, but was hoping to custom one so it would be on the drivers side FRONT.

this was a complete circle can be made from the turbo - under the bumper - and back into the intake. another good point is less tubing to complete the job, meaning cooler air for the intake.

if i had an extra one, i could just play with it and if i made a mistake, then i still had the stock one. i think i will check with GM and see what a new one costs???

let me see what my guy will make my plates for. I took him an upper plenum gasket and about 5 minutes later I had a nice peice of 1/4" steel that was a perfect fit. I guess he could make them out of aluminum if you want, he already has the program saved, so it shouldn't be much. His water jet machine will cut 1/2" stainless, it's pretty cool for making header flanges and stuff like this.

Guys i am working on a similiar project. I ported, and polished my intake upper. But I think I am going to make my own intake. So I can fit in a IC as well. Here is a pictures of my intake top and what I did to it so far. It may be for sale soon , if I get some time to make my intake.

http://www.customizedcreations.net/images/600_Diesel_book_029.jpgPorted inlet upper to turbo. I ported it close to 6-7 inches all the way in. Almost to the bend.

if you look close, you can see what i had built. the one on the engine has a 3.5" hole with a 3" 90 sticking out of it loosely. I'm using one with a 3" hole, chainging the diameter is just a keyboard click away. And obviously mine wont' work with an EGR lower intake.

looks like that took some work. if a guy had access to a water jet or similar machine, he could make a fortune on the weekends making some custom intakes.

customizedcreations, looks like you have alot of time on your hands to make it look that nice! great job.
