Dropped in an MBRP 304 4" system a few days ago and uploaded a predator 85 hp tune. A little feedback.
The MBRP system is not too loud at all. It just has a slight rumble to it...nothing obnoxious. The fit was fine. The hardest part was pushing the rubber hangers off the stock system. Once off, the old system came out in one piece with no trouble. I had the right side of the truck up on stands.
I didn't want to load the 100 because I heard about people limping the trans on the 100 setting, so I opted just for the 85. If I need to tow anything, I'll just drop back to 40.
There is slightly more rattle from the engine, but it's hardly noticeable, unless you're really listening for it. Roll on the throttle with the TC locked and it does smoke. Not the globs of crude oil kind, but enough to make people back off and very visible in the mirrors. With the MBRP system exiting at a 45 deg angle, the smoke rolls in behind the truck and not very far into the right lane.
After the retune, the Allison got really confused. It's been 2 days now, and it's much better. Still a little shaky on some shifts, but totally driveable.
Throttle response is right now! I'm not sure if they remapped the throttle position / torque request settings or what, but the old lag and wait-for-boost is totally gone. Power seems up by at least the advertised 33% or so.
No signs of any codes thrown. For $350-400 it's really a no brainer. I'll get gauges eventually, I don't tow too much, mostly just a jetski. We're about 20ft above sea level down here, so there's plenty of air to keep things cool.
If you're questioning whether or not to spend the big bucks on an EJ or Banks, the Predator is a good cheaper alternative to see if you like it.
