Bought my 02 earlier this week with 69k and after driving it about 600 miles the injectors went south. I noticed a diesel smell yesterday but thought it was my transer tank as I overilled it and it was leaking a bit. This morning I went out side and there was a puddle of diesel under the truck and I pulled the dipstick and the crankcase was full of diesel. I loaded up the truck and took it to the dealer and they say they should have it on monday. The service guy said they get a lot of the duramaxes with this problem but once they fix them they don't come back.

Anything I should be concerned about or check since this happened? I drove probably 30 miles from when I first smelled the diesel until I discoverd the problem. Any chance of damage to the engine from diluted oil? I was not towing or pushing it hard.

I had the same thing happen to me. Everbody here says that it should be OK. I would have the mechanic check things out why its in just to be safe.

I think it will shorten the life of the motor by 100K - Remember it is a 300+K motor. Make sure they change the oil and filter, then try to get a free oil change from them for the trouble and have it changes again with the filter after a couple of hundred miles. Then change it again to a good synthetic in 1K miles. This should help, mine showed high levels of some of the bearing metals in the first change. I will change it the second time here soon. Mine has 152,000 miles and runs great. ):h

After that happening to mine 3 times , motor let loose at 282,000. Crank and bearings shot. Dont ever believe diesel in oil WON'T hurt it !!! -:t
