OK I have been having this problem lately where when I am getting on the truck, edge turned up or on 0, it quits accelerating when I get to third gear. At first I thought torque converter but 1,2,4, and 5 hold fine even during a 5,4 downshift. I guess it could be the tranny but why 3rd only?? I had a problem with the fuel pressure regulator and replaced it but broke the plug and in wont stay on unless its zip tied lol. Could this be a fueling issue or should I dig into the tranny?

Totally disconnect the EDGE unit. Report back.

Another thought........fuel filter, trans spin on filter......how old are they?

Dont know how you feel about the Edge unit, but.......it never hurts to upgrade to a better programmer. PPE or EFI Live.........end of story. Ive never been a fan of shift on the fly modules. Trouble in my opinion.

disconnected edge unit, though harder to accomplish the truck still does it. It just seems like it hangs when it tries to shift to third, the RPMs dont go up or down and there is not accel or decel, it just hangs there.

I kind of like the edge and was planning on running it and a probably the PPE unit when I get the tranny built with my tax return lol.

I like the idea of EFI live but how easy is it to work with, I dont mind tooling around but is it necessary to take it somewhere to have them build a tune for the truck?

oh yea the spin on is pretty old, I am ashamed to say its the same one that was on the truck when i bought it three years ago. So who knows how old it is, though like I said all will be reconciled as soon as Mike L gets back to me! The fuel filter is about 6k miles old. I am doing a oil/filter change here this weekend so we will see if that works

huh, if you have a built tranny and its still doing this, I am switching my opinion now to wondering if its a fueling issue again

isnt there a monitor that lets you check fuel rail pressure while running? Is it the PPE or EFI Live?

You need EFI Live.

You can monitor plenty with it while driving, and you can save the log too.
Logging of both engine and transmission.

You can adjust torque tables (defuel) to allow for better shifting. You will need this when you get a built tranny.

You will wonder why you ever bought another tuner. Buy from vendors here and you get a free tune or two to start out. Mainly you will need support when you first start learning. They will help, as well as others in the EFI section.

MAVDOG, change the spin on now :) and the fuel filter too :)

Probably unrelated but check the large rubber fuel line under the master cylinder that transitions from the frame steel line to the engine steel line, it has teh quick connect over the valve cover. Mine had become soft and crimped rather than a smooth round 90 transition. I cut it out and spliced in some fresh rubber right there and my truck pulls better now where before it seemed as if it was starving. Just a thought.
