When my LLY is cold I get what I would call pothole throttle at slow speeds around town. I don't know what else to call it as its almost a choppy feel, not smooth. I believe I read something on here at one point about it but could not find anything as well as a possible cure (stiffer throttle spring?) Thoughts from anyone?

There is a stiffer spring to put on the pedal assembly. Do a search in the DIY section for throttle pedal spring. I did it and it seems better, maybe need a stiffer spring yet. The spring is from Home Depot I dont remember the specs.

Is this caused by actual peddle movement? My lly is doing the same thing only at cold temps and low rpms. I do have a ZF-6 manual tranny but it does it in the same place every morning. Like almost coasting and barely hitting the throttle will make it surge or buck a little. It even does it with the cruise control on at 58 or 60 mph. Once warm it never happens.

the only time my truck does it is upon start up when the engine is cold and I am travelling slow speeds on surface streets. Highway there is no issue. I assume from other info that replacing with a stiffer pedal spring helps the situation.

I believe this is the thread your looking for.

I know exactly what you are talking about. It becomes even more apparent with a cookie cutter tune downloaded.
My solution to it was a completely rewritten fuel pressure PCM map. It made the truck so much smoother. IMO, fuel pressure on this vehicle is too much like an on/off switch. My effort took at least 50 hours though. The tune I use now has 500 hrs into it. Medication has not been helpful.

Are you willing to share/sell this tune?

i cant possibly see how putting a STIFFER spring would make that damn throttle any better. it seems to me that the whole reason you cant keep steady throttle over bumps is because the ****ing pedal is too stiff to begin with.
i put a LIGHTER spring in it yesterday from home depot, and it has allowed for me to give it much smoother throttle, especially over bumps. i tried the stiffer spring that the thread talks about just for the hell of it, and i couldnt even get the damn thing on.

I know what you mean also, but it became very apparent with my programmer. There is a point where you move the damn pedal a mm and the truck goes from cruise to accelerate haha.

if you log the event with EFILive, and monitor fuel pressure, you will see, and feel, the correlation.
My tunes are for sale, I've just never advertised it. Be forwarned though, as soon as you change FP, the whole tune has to be rewritten. It's awful time consuming.
The heavier spring is a simple way to help this problem. I used to have a dodge charger, the vintage collectible. It was nicely sprung. The correct spring lets you relax your foot, and the accelerator doesn't push back too much...fatigue. IMO. When you do both, retune and respring, it becomes very, very refined.

My truck used to surge in the parking lot. I spent 5 minutes with the tune and now it doesnt surge.
I would hope that with 500 hours into this magical tune, killerbee's truck can at least fly around the world on a single tank of fuel, and bake 6 batches of cookies while in flight.

same here.
but this isn't another surge thread. and the benefits of remapping the fuel pressure, are more apparent than just smoothness. Maybe you should try it before getting witty.
