I am putting a brand new factory GM 6.5 in my 94 GMC. Everthing that attaches to the engine will be new except for the injection pump which was factory replaced 10k ago.
I can buy a new in box factory GM-4 turbo for $600 on ebay, good price, or I can buy a used, approx 20k, GM-8 turbo for $200.
My questions are, What are the differences between the GM-4 and 8 turbo, Are there any improvements in the 8? Is the GM-8 a direct replacement for the GM-4? The GM parts guy says the 4 is only for 94 & 95 engines. Will it void my new engine warranty if I put the 8 on it?
I appreciate any info you can offer.
