Well I now have my military exhaust manifolds and the snow is melting off, so I am getting itchy to do some work on the truck. After I get done with the manifolds, I am going to get a muffler put on it. Last summer I got a ticket for "no muffler" and I put in a glass pack to get by and I hated the way it sounded, so I am looking for something different. I am wondering if I should go with a gasser muffler since it is a N/A or go with an actual Diesel muffler. I have been considering a couple of options: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/44_super.html and

Give me some feed back on what you guys like and what you know works, any videos or soundclips would be great!

I havent put my hummer exhaust manifolds on yet,i just wanted to get the engine running an all the bugz worked out, then put them on an take it to a muffler shop to have them custom make a y pipe to fit my current exhaust pipe. Its a 3' into a the stock 1990 muffler then splits into 2 pipes both 2 1/2 in diameter.

Come on, somebody has to have a good idea of what sounds good.

My buddy has an 88 burb with the Super 44s on it. I was just out with him in it last night. It sounds pretty good. Nice and low, and not too loud. I am thinking about a set for my truck too.

I am assuming that the Burb has the factory duals on it.

I am worried that a single S44 will be too loud, I really don't want to get pulled over again.

I don't think you should have too much trouble with it. My buddies burb isn't that loud at all. He actually mentioned that he had thought about putting the 60s on for a little more bark.

I know it is a different engine, but I have the 4" magnaflow on my 03 Duramax. It has no cat, and a straight through perforated muffler and dual tails. It is MUCH louder than his burb with true duals and the S44's.

Hope this helps a little.

Have you tested the fit of those military headers? I was unable to use them in my 1500 - the steering column was in the way on one side, the frame touched on the other. I ended up having to go with a 6.5 exhaust. I've plumbed it into a couple of 71" sidepipes...

When I do exhaust on my 84 K10 SWB 6.2 I am going to do either a 3 or 4" pipe with a dynamax muffler.

What year is your truck? I haven't test fitted them yet, but I have been wondering about the fit, since they are made for the older style.

It's a '91 2wd 1500 that originally came with a 350.

I have two cherry bomb turbo mufflers on my stock exhaust and it has a little rumble but the rattling engine is louder than the exhaust unless I get n it or I am pulling something.
later,
robert

What do you guys think about having just a resonator in line, instead of an actual muffler?
