Hello all,

I have recently installed my egr blocker plate ( thanks TONY BURKHARD ) and did PCV reroute. After a few mishaps on my part ( DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN EGR BOLTS, THEY WILL BREAK ! $$$$$) truck is running really well, no power gains but just seems to run smoother, quieter.
I am however running with usually 3 codes -401,404,1621. sometimes 0101 shows up as well. After doing searches I know what these mean and I'm ok with them being there , just wonder is there a magic number of codes before truck limps or am I just worrying about nothing. Only had 1621 periodically before mods to egr and pcv, which only shows up when Bullydog is downloaded. Blocked but not unplugged as I was told to do.
Drive on, or what, Thanks for the help !

they make a 'fingerstick' that takes care of those codes

they shouldnt cause any driveability issues though. the engine will only limp for certain codes, not a certain amount of codes

Thanks , truck has FE9 build code so thats why I didn't think I needed fingerstick, really don't want to cut any wires either. Would unplugging egr help or likely cause another code ? Again I'm fine to drive it the way it is, just want to learn. THANKS !

I was thinking the FE9 only applied for no finger stick on LB7 version Duramaxes. Working on learning the differences in all the versions of the Duramax. For the P0101 code you get is this the stock air box? If so is the filter you are using an Oiled type filter. If so then you may need to clean the MAF sensor. The oil of the filter if heavily oiled can cause this.

Funny,
probably the same time you posted this I stumbled on another thread that mentioned "be careful when oiling filter, can cause sensor to throw code", and that is exactly what my problem is I'm sure , as I just cleaned and oiled my filter a few days ago. Just proves again how awesome this site is and people like yourself replying and training us "newbies". THANKS. I will clean sensor and surely be back to original 3 codes.

Airbox is stock but "opened" for headlight removal airflow when daytime hauling .

Unplug it and see what happens. From what I've read, unplug it when the engine is cold. Jerry.

Like I told you, unplug but do it when its cold that way you know that the valve is closed. You'll get codes, but as long as you know what they are don't worry about them.

I had the same 4 codes with my bully dog triple dog. I had to install finger stick to get rid of them. I also blocked egr & did pcv reroute. Still has 1621, but does not turn engine light on.
