I am getting close to buying a 5th wheel. I will be needed/wanting a slider hitch.

But more importantly, I would like a hitch that in the winter when I take out the main piece, there are no rails left.

I ride snowmobiles, and am concerned that the carbides on the sled will ruin the rails left in my bed.

So what are my choices, pros and cons?

I have superglide that removes.. only 4 holes in the bed... the brackets are under the bed and put pins in to put hitch on..

Pro - slick and works great
Con - heavy to put in and out.. need 2 people or some kind of lift.. also a little expensive.. but a really nice hitch..

Installed it myself... not too hard.. just measure about 10 times before you drill!

Signature Series

I am getting the 16k slider for my truck.
~1100 for the hitch ~ 150 for the mounting rails.
I have 2 trucks, so 1100+150+150, and both trucks have a 5th wheel. (one at a time)

I've got the reese signature series and it is NICE!!. Once I hit camp or home I just release the 4 hold down pins and lift the hitch out of the bed with the camper and let it hang off the 5th wheel pin when not in use. Super easy to use and there is only 4 "pucks" that stick up 1/4".

Only thing to watch for is that gravel can get down in the hole and won't let the T pins seat. It'll be obvious nothing to worry about, just a heads up.

I wish I would've got one with the rails hidden ... don't like the cost though. If you don't want to spend that much just cut a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood and lay it over the rails. The rails do come in handy for tying down a four wheeler. :D

if you want the best hitch around get an air hitch, you truck and trailer with thank you. the company is own by a few good friends of mine. they work amazing. i run a hitch model (i only pull goosenecks, no 5th wheels) but using the hitch with my race trailer (snowmobile) its amazing hoe nice they drive down the highway. check them out

I also have a Superglide. I agree with everything Filip said plus the hitch slides without you having to leave the truck. You don't have to set brakes and set locking pins when you need the hitch to "slide" back.

Ive got a Husky slider that leaves 4 holes in the box when removed. Its a bit heavy but not impossible to get in/out by yourself. Its not electric like the superglide but it dosent have the superglide price tag either. Sliding it takes no effort anyway. I have a few pics of it installed in my garage.

A Superglide is not electric. It has a cam follower built into the hitch. As the camper turns the hitch slides (glides) back away from the cab.

Yeah I see that now :o: Was there a time it was electric? I remember researching sliders when I was in the market for one.....there was an electric model that was controled from the cab. I thought it was this one?

This is a really neat concept in how it performs :thumb: Does anyone have a considerable amount of miles on one of these? Any issues with the cam follower binding or not operating smooth in uneven terrain?

here is a great set up its like two and one the b and w turnover ball with a 5 th wheel hitch add on. the first link it for the gooseneck ball and mount. the 2nd is for the 5th wheel it works great. i have the goose neck ball and my wife annt has a 5th wheel camper we have used and i just drop there 5ht wheel hitch in and go. it bolts to the frame and a 4 in. hole in the bed.the reciver sits flush with the bed . I have had my sled in there and the reciver hitch does not cause any problems when there is any thing in the bed
