Last night I air checked my C1 C2 housing C2 worked fine. C1 valve fluttered and I could not get the C1 to engaged, all the air seemed like it just blew out the center of the turbine shaft? I took the drum apart and reassembled and still did not work. any ideas?

Ryan - Have you tried shooting trans fluid in the C1 apply hole or directly on the fluttering C1 backfill valve? If it just flat blowing out then I'd suspect the thin seal inside the center of the C1/C2 clutch housing--it may have gotten pinched or damaged during assembly, it's happended to me before. Also check sealing rings on input shaft and pump.

How it going Gorge. I did try putting fluid in there, it just blew out the center of the shaft all over me.:( I think I know what the problem is. I took some pics for Mike to compare, to a stator that I haven't touched. I think that the spacer on the main shaft was misaligned one of the times I put the extension housing on, as there was some marks on the teeth and it wasn't all the way down. Do you think it could have pressed this sleeve inside the stator down, exposing the long little hole in the pics. Or even pressed the whole shaft out of the stator a little. I measured the shaft length coming out of the stator as u can see in the picture. Can anyone check the measurement, how far the shaft sticks out of the stator. I,m starting to wonder if I can ever get this trans built right. On the other hand I'm getting really good at getting it in and out.:o:http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3399/3264236907_dc82185ffb_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">http://farm1.static.flickr.com/236/3264237195_6d1e65c41a_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">http://farm1.static.flickr.com/241/3265063068_ae1c2887ba_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">http://farm1.static.flickr.com/245/3265063484_0566801937_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3397/3264237987_e1d7192dc1_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">http://farm1.static.flickr.com/238/3265062642_cb00693398_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">http://farm1.static.flickr.com/235/3265062906_f7c21568e9_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">

Ryan - yeah that,s probably the problem. I've also had that experience, I pressed the stator shaft in deeper and that cured the problem. The air is escaping from the exposed slot below the bearing.

How did you press the shaft back in.

how does the shaft get out. could it be from that spacer installed wrong and tightening up the extension housing.

I hope I get this figured out soon. There is a volcano across the bay That is getting ready to blow up. I don't want to be reinstalling in the ash.

Take pictures as I need to see some vocano action.:p: seriously, how thick is the top spacer in your picture when you measured stator shaft hight? I will give you a proper reading in the am.

That measurement is under the spacer, I just used that to plane across the the shaft.
so that measurement is from the stator to top of stator shaft.

Here is a pic the last time it blew in 89.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3481/3264966735_0861bddb4c_o.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">http://www.avo.alaska.edu/image_full.php?id=379

Ryan - Good point but I wouldn't think that would cause it to pull out--I'll look into that. Could be from a burned up converter that had to be pried out?

Ryan
Your stator shaft hight should be under 5.200.

Well I've kinda had a little problems getting converter out before, but I dont think I had to pry it out that hard. seems like the stator shaft is pressed in pretty tight. how would u get one back in?

Maby it could have happened When my flex plate broke. It vibrated alot I mean and hard to it shook the hole truck.

Where is the plastic washer on the back of the stator support?

Mike you see how the teeth are sticking on the stator shaft would u check out another one and see if the are sticking up like that or farther into the stator.http://farm1.static.flickr.com/238/3265062642_cb00693398_b.jpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/%3Ca%20href=)">
