I have a whining noise coming from other the trans or tranfer case...has anyone out there had this or know what it could be, trans shifts fine...4x4 works fine just the noise.

does it do it when you let off the pedal? mine made a whining noise and i had no oil in the transfercase, check your fluid in the t-case and diffs.

my case was bone dry and it still let me shift into 4hi/4lo, I would check the case asap. They are not cheap to replace.

thanks for your help i will check it. it starts making the sound from like 5 km a hour and on. It sounds like a air leaking sound, and when driving if i let off the pedal it still does it, but of course not when im stopped. The trans shift fine and oil is good so it has to be the t case im sure.

kk...this is a dumb ? im not mechanical and ive never had a problem with my truck so i dont even know how to check the t case oil. Can u tell me were to look?

im guessing on the side of the t case there is filler bolt just dont see it

i just finished checking everything out and the t case and trans are fine. when the truck is running and in park if i rev it up about 1200 rpm and up its making the noise, does anyone know if a water pump or water pump bearing makes a noise when it goes or is goin....or maby the power steering pump?????.
