What did you use to polish them? They really look good.

I used 3 coats of "SPEEDY All metal polish" Which I got from the local truck stop when I was there. It's a greenish looking liquid.

And the 1 coat of "American Racing Metal Polish Factory Formula" It's a 1" wide strip of presoaked polishing cloth which you tear into a small 4" strip or so.

Rub the polish's in till they turn good and black and then wipe the stuff off and do it again

Didn't take as long as I thought it would, only about an hour each including taking them off and putting them back on the truck.

Chrome gets beat up in the salt, and/or it can chip. Then what? You can keep polishing polished aluminum, and they come out like new...

If one winter pits them out, you'll be spending a lot of $$$ on wheels... I've seen two sets, both less than a year old turned to a big steaming pile in one winter season. My point was based on these observations, of two different wheel manufacturers. You can't polish out pitted chrome - at least I've never seen it done.

Back on topic...

DD's wheels look sweet, and he didn't have to have them re-chromed or buy a new set. Not that he might not need an elbow or shoulder replaced...):h

The shoulder is a little sore, but I'll survive :ro)

I've had chrome rims on other trucks and unless you keep them clean all winter long, which is tough to do when it's below freezing for a few weeks, sooner or later they will get knicked by a rock or something else and once the salt finds it's way in and get's started, your all done with.

I had Stainless wheel simulators on my last dually and they took a beating, but when you washed them off no mater what they looked good again.

I've also had clear coated rims on the wifes car and again once the clear gets a nick in it the salt goes to work under the clear and just starts to eat away at the aluminuim and by the time you notice it's too late.

You guys in the fair weather states don't know how easy you got it when it comes to keeping your trucks clean

Not saying bare polished aluminuim is the easiest to take care of but it works good for me and the rim's came out better than I thought they would, so I'm happy:D

Maybe next year I'll hit them with some fine steel wool and make them even shinier.;)

Damn, I'm sore just looking at the before/after picts. Nothing like fresh polished rims.

I you want to clean your rims and not work your a$$ off, try FLITZ with a Flitz head on an electric drill. Work great, and it can't get any easier unless they learn to clean themselves.

Has anyone tried Zoop seal? It's supposed to keep them looking polished for alot longer. Curious to know before I do my wifes Centerlines.

I've heard that name Zoop seal before but have not actually seen it, I'll see if I can find it.
