When mashing the gas in say 2nd gear and staying on it, the 4th gear shift is so hard sometimes it seems as though it could break something. If I leave from a stop it doesnt seem to be as bad. Part throttle shifts are smooth. I havent been able to do too many full throtle runs from a stop to top speed cuz I live in town. The trans has been in for a week now. Any advice? I am also putting the Quad tune in it when its delivered tue or weds of next week. I hate to bust this thing.
2 more weeks till 3 days of bracket racing!
Another ? while Im here. What advantage would the copilot be on my truck if any?

Just Got My New Stage Iv In Last Week It Shifted Very Hard And Eraticly And Sometimes Going From 4th To 5th I Thought It Was Gonna Break Something. Its Finally Shifting Right After About 200 Miles Of Stop And Go Driving It Takes Alot Of Shifts To Smooth Out. Did Your Installer Do A Quick Learn On With A Tech Ii Or Something? Hope This Helps. I Guess It Takes A While To Learn With The Increased Clutches.

If shift adapts are not cleared properly after installation, shifts will be eratic for a time. When the truck is left to learn on its own, this will take longer, keep changing the power levels around and it could take forever.
I put the HJ on 5 and left it alone after install. They supposedly put a programmer on it to clear it but who knows???? I am getting the Quad. Will that clear the trans? It was shifting hard in all gears at first. Also trying to downshift like in TH mode even when not in TH. Those problems are gone and I just thought after a week it would be ok.
This thing will get pounded on when I get to the track. It better be ready!

Certain TCM strategys will never learn the 3-4 shift properly when clutches are increased in C2. There will be calibration problems on a few trucks.
Thanks mike
will it eventually learn and smooth out after time or do I have a programming glitch of some kind? Sorry for the stupid questions, I am cupuder illiddirate.

Make sure the TAP's have been reset, hopefully the whole garage stuff was done too. Reset em, stick your edge on kill and turn all the defueling off. Leave it there and drive it a bunch with different trottle positons. Use regular and TH. Mine just goes click click click nice and smooth. Mike has seen a ton more trans than mine, maybe your truck is funky? Clear the TAP's, drive it a bit and then call and talk to Joe at SC. Or drive over there since you are close......If there is something wonky I'm sure Joe will take care of ya.
Joe did get in touch with me.
I need to get the tech II and clear TAPS in case the shop didnt do it.
BTW - I think Im 8-9 hrs from Joe @ SC. The shop that did it is 1.5 hrs away. Going back to the shop will only be a last resort.
Thanks for any ideas you have.

You could probably find a local shop to do the rest for you for a few $$$. If they are unsure of it I'm sure Joe would be happy to walk them through it on the phone.
