This thing is awesome just got in yesterday I cant say enough how well it works and performs. Make sure you get the portable GPS so you can plug/unplug it and take it with you, so cool.

It was this or the Kenwood 8120 but after I ran both on the sample wall it was an easy decision. But the Alpine setup was about $500 more with the Blackbird GPS..

Nice. I currently have the Pioneer AVIC-D3 right now and the sq is absolute garbage when used with external amps. I'm actually looking to see who has the best deal on the Alpine IVA-W505. I intend to purchase the Imprint processor also which should make an outstanding sq improvement. You mind if I ask where you got it from and for how much?

Make you a good deal on an Alpine System. I'm actually looking for a Pioneer unit.

Appreciate the offer but I can't stand a flip-up model. Please, no offense.

I have really been leaning towards buying a Kenwood. Please tell me what you liked better about the Alpine. I haven't gotten to run either unit so I really don't know which one I want. A local shop tried to push towards the Pioneer, but I don't really like it.

Thanks!

Jeff

I like Alpine, but they are much more expensive, but also seem to be more flexible. I am only selling my old system because I am one of those types that like to put new stuff into a new truck.

I have had Alpine for 10 years, the only bad thing I had about Alpine is the 3 disc in dash changers they had, eventually it wouldn't shuffle the discs anymore. Of course for some reason, I bought 2 of them!

Kenwood makes a good nav unit, the interface seems a bit odd, but when you are used to one unit, other units do seem odd.

Most perform all the same functions, some just have more than others, in my opinion it depends on what features you are looking for. SOme have more, some have more POI's, but anymore I don't even care about those since the database is basically corrupt on any model. POI's are either mixed up into wrong catergories, or if you are looking for Exxon, it might not be listed under Exxon, but rather Brady's Exxon or something stupid like that. It doesn't do much good to have 5 million POI's if you can't easily find the one you are looking for.
