Something new is happening.... my high idle cuts out at times. I have the power supply connected to brake pedal with a red LED confirming power.
It turns on without a problem and sometimes within minutes or even seconds it just cuts off to normal idle. It also seems to do this when it is cold outside.
I am lost.... has this happened to anyone other than me?
Yes my 02 has been doing this for ever ? It my go 6 weeks without doing it and then it starts up and dose it for a week or 2 ???

Mine cuts off when the glow plugs or intake heater are on.

what would cause my 96 6.5 Td to be driving alone with the cruz control an you go to acellerate to pass a car an it's like some one shut the key off ? an then you go to restart it an it will only idle an will not rev up without cutting out ? got it home an the truck set for about 45 min restarted it an it was back to running fine like something reset it'self

Post in the 6.5 section as most of the DURAMAX guys don't know much if anything about the old 6.5.

Mine does this from time to time. I think it seems to happen if I try to engage it too soon while the intake heater is still drawing power. So I just wait a little longer and it seems to work.
After you start the truck how long are you waiting till you engage it?

Heres a cold start of mine. You can hear the high idle kick in and out real fast at about 37 seconds when the glow plugs flashed in again. I probably hit the high idle button about 5 or 6 times before it finally came in and stayed in for a few minutes.
