Took "IT" out ? The paper? I'm not sure what your asking here. EGR blocker plate is a metal plate that you 'block' the egr with..... Still not sure what you took out and cleaned...... Valve? You need to block it. If you search on it you will find like 200 posts.

Yeah man you block the push back of the exhaust with the blocker plate. But you have to have a tuner to turn shit off so the codes dont come up.

For clarification, I believe he wrote the code down on a piece of paper and he removed the EGR valve and cleaned it. My question is, did it help?

Yes thank you rtsmax im not the smartest person in the world thats why i am here!!!!! Im sorry if i messed up the wording but yes i did forget the code on a piece of paper i am looking for a cheap tunner for her. but for the egr blocker i have to have a ture?

You don't have to have a tune. Some install the blocker plate and have no codes, while others get codes all the time. You can get the blocker plate with the stick and not get the codes.

Some install the blocker plate and have no codes

Havent heard of that just yet...? Even removing the kitty will cause a code in most sooner or later... But blocking will for sure set a code unless a finger stick is used to fool the system... But as stated even with an EGR flow code set there is no evidence that it affects anything with the Federal emissions (non-Cali smog crap)... In fact with my LLY my milage went up 1-2mpg when I blocked my EGR... With the code not turning on the CEL it means its a "soft code" which does not interupt the closed loop which gives the most economy and performance... Some codes which "hard set" do put the ECM in the open loop mode which is basicly your "limp mode" with a Diesel... (not exactly how it is but is the basic idea) Also I figure with the California emissions the EGR flow code turns on the CEL so it may also set a hard code with that system...?

Also using a tuner will make the engine leaner while at highway cruise throttle positions but of course recurve the fuel in conjunction with linear position of the throttle and you get alot more power...

I have removed my kitty and also put in a blocker plate. Been this way since Aug. I just went out and plugged in my PPE and checked and no codes at all. I have a FE9 truck so maybe thats why.

No codes on mine either (fe9) with a plate installed. I just have a cheapo code reader but I also took it to a buddies shop and he hooked up his snap on reader and did not pick up anything either.

question, what is an fe9? i have an 05 lly, im putting a 4 inch MBRP turbo back on, i have a stealth 2 on order, and thinking of doing the EGR blocker, ill make my own, will my stealth 2 block the EGR codes?

FE9 is Federal emission certification for the engine-- if you have one-- it usually will not set a CEL, when you block the EGR. So you do not need a "Finger stick".

fe9 is an emissions certification, check your build sheet in the glove box. No the Quad S2 doesn't have the EGR funtion. Don't make your blocker plate too thick (no more than .06) or you'll have a hard time geting it to seal.

FE9 trucks usually do not throw a code. Look in the glove box. Search on here too, there is days of reading on this topic.

Is it possible to eliminate the kitty on the stock exhaust with a straight piece of 3 1/2" pipe ? Has anyone done it. I noticed everyone that has no kitty that posted here has an aftermarket exhaust. just wondering if it is a good Idea? I just can't afford an aftermarket exhaust due to being Laid off. Thanks for your time.

Yes, Thats what I did with mine. I cut the muffler and cat out and just installed a straight piece....doesnt fit perfect, but still get great performance and sound.

And no triped CEL? sounds good, like the sleeper satus. I thinking about running a 5 inch straight side pipe

I have blocked my EGR did a PCV Re-Route and Plugged the Resinator. I did it all in about 45 minutes. I didn't get a Fingerstick due to what I read in other threads/posts that if in your glove box one of the codes are (Fe9) you shouldn't have a problem with throwing codes with a "lly".

Has anyone blocked the EGR without the fingerstick on an LBZ? I am thinking about blocking, but not sure if i have the savvy to pull of the fingerstick, and wanted to know if it would set a code. Thanks!

This is a complete series of newbie questions/comments hear. So, if i ask or say something stupid, please forgive me. I've read numerous threads on egr blocking, cat removal, etc. and I like the idea. Any gas burners that i have owned always had at least one episode of egr system related problems; be it the egr valve or other nuisance codes such as "P404-EGR Flow Performance". Like wise, the cat was plugged or second O2 sensor crapped the bed.

Question 1 - I haven't looked yet, but I am assuming the 05 LLY does not have a secondary O2 sensor (aft of cat)??? If this is the case, I will soon visit a shop to get some pipe to fill the void where the cat no longer is.

Question 2 - I understand the blocker plate. What is a finger stick and how does it install/function??? Engine codes pi$$ me off to no end. About as bad as anti gunners.

I'm not after better fuel economy. I get 17-18 mixed driving and that seems excellent to me considering what I haul, where I drive, and the weight of the long bed/ext cab 4x4. My old S-10 only got 21mpg on a good day. I am looking for better longevity out of the engine.

Though I am an industrial engineer and former nuke submariner, I consider myself a fairly mechanically inclined. However, I am not an engine designer. Sucking dirty air back into the intake defies all logic for keeping an engine clean and running at optimum performance. I am new to diesel burners and fast becoming an addict to the torque and power of diesel. Diesel Place is my "go to" source for information, guidance, and opinion.
