I own 4 late model GM vehicles; 2 ea 2003 Duramax, 1 2002 Suburban, 1 2004 Yukon so I purchased the Expensive +$300 Expertec software & from Helm) to do my maintenance. The software worked fine from May of 2003 until I upgraded my computer operating system to Windows XP. Now the SI software won't run and I cannot get it off my system to try a reload. After 23 days and 11 emails exchanged with SI "Tech" they said they won't suport SI2000 anymore!! They tried to send a phony program to clean it off and it never worked. Last email said for me to unload ALL my software, dump my operating system, reload XP and "try" it again !
I would appreciate any help that anyone might have to offer, I am so dissappointed in Helm and GM Expertec that I may never buy from them again if that is the "support" they offer. Oh, yea - now you have to by SI on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis....if you have the outrageous amount of money they want for subscriptions!

If you or somebody you know is really good with the Windows environment (or is really brave) you can go into the system registry to get rid of some programs. I have had times when things get installed and can't be uninstalled because they get files inserted in the windows registry and there they sit. But, if you do go down that road, be sure you have everything backed up because a false move in the registry and format c: can be the next step.
If you are going to end up reinstalling everything anyway, you could set up a dual-boot system on your computer allowing you to install your old version of Windows as well as XP. I have never tried that with XP, but I used to dual boot NT and 98 when it first came out. That way programs that have to have either operating system can be installed under its own environment.

Right click on the program icon, properties, compatability then click the box for program compatability mode and finally check the program that applies. See if that works for you?
I have HVAC heatload software with the same issues, this worked for me.
Let me know?

Thanks for the response, unfortunately I tried it and still no luck. What ever GM/SI did to hook this software is really hard to overcome. I'll let you know if I hear of any other methods that work.

I assumed, but did not ask, you are trying to uninstall the software rather than just deleting the program folder, right? If not, you can use the add/remove program function in the control panel to uninstall the software. Sometimes the original software cd will also have an uninstall utility on it.

Do you run Norton for a firewall? I had the same problem until I disabled the Norton Firewall. Worked fine then. After Starting up the SI, Enable the firewall. Works for me now. BTW, it was trial and error for days until I realized that the APACHE driver was "looking" at a networking outside the internal system. Check your addon firewalls. I keep the Windows firewall running at the same time and SI runs fine.

Mitchagain -
YOU ARE THE MAN! I shut down my firewall & antivirus and I can now run SI. You should get "tech" pay from SI they sure didn't have a clue as how to make it run!
Thanks for the response & help!
Happy trails!

Hey, glad to hear it worked. Like I said, its the Apache looking outside and your driver is inside. Firewall is doing what its supposed to do. Besides, i got my SI a couple years ago on Ebay so I don't think SI would give more than a hard time!!
