Ok Dodge guys need some advice for my son-in-law. He has a 2003 HO manual. Probably got 100M+ now. 30M miles ago the rear u joint when out. I actually got it replace for him while he used my GMC. I helped the mechanic by holding on the drive shaft as he beat the u joint out of it. On reinstall I noticed, the ears on the drive shaft seem just a tad off. It put the u joint in an ever so slight bind. You could feel it after it was installed. I commented to the mechanic about it, he thought it might be more because of no zerk on the u joint. I told my son-in-law at the time….bet that is your problem and if so…it’s going to fail again. Now 30M miles later it appears it has.

Has others had this problem? And if so, is there a remedy without driveshaft replacement? Better U joint? Not certain the alignment issue I saw is the problem, but my gut says it is. I doubt it’s cost justifiable to replace the driveshaft, but at the same time aggravating to have to get the u joint replace every 30M miles.
