This has probably been asked before but I had no luck finding it. I have a 1993 GMC 1/2 ton SWB extended cab, new heavy duty 4l60e with big cooler. Banks Turbo. I am looking at a 22 1/2 foot 5th wheel holiday trailer about 4000 lb dry weight. Will I be able to tow it comfortably. I don't care about setting any land speed records, but as I am crossing western Canada there will be a few hills:eek::eek::eek:.

Thank you all in advance,
Gerald

She might not set any hillclimbing records , but she'll get the job done.

It should do it just fine especially w/ the turbo.
Watch out for the 4L60E, put it in 3rd if it's shifting between OD and 3rd a lot.

Transmission is the weak link. I would never tow in od with a 4l60. Large trans cooler will help transmission live longer. Make shure radiator is squeeky clean. A ho water pump for a 97 6.5 is a good idea also.

I am actually looking at this exact truck setup, but mine is n/a right now. I found a guy with a complete turbo setup from a '97 6.5 with a cracked block. He tells me the turbo setup should bolt right on to the 93 no problem. Is he right? Anything I should watch out for? Doesn't that year have the dual thermostat setup? I think I can get everything for around $400.

Sorry if I hijacked the thread, but I have a trailer that I regularly load with vehicles and pull around 5000# altogether.
