I prefer the manual way over fancy toys. She does too.

Seriously...we've discussed this before. It sounds pretty complicated, since there are extra doors in the ductwork, and you need additional sensors that the manual doesn't use. Didn't sound do-able.

The manual is faster and less complicated to operate.

as long as the electronic climax control isn't fired up via pull starter.

"Manuel" is a guys name, manual is a book. So, I don't think you want to climax with Manuel. But, I guess its "don't ask, don't tell.
:drop_mout Just kidding..............

I'd encourage you to be happy with the manual climate control. I find the automatic control a real pain to use. If you want to switch which vents the air is directed to you have to repeatedly press a button to cycle through the modes while watching the display. If you miss the one you want you have to do it all over again. With yours all you do is turn the knob to what you want. They share one display for both temperature settings, so the first click of a temp knob selects the side to display, then subsequent clicks change the temp, most of the time, unless you've changed the temp recently in which case the first click changes the temp. This unit is a perfect example of incorporating a microprocessor with poor design resulting in something "new and improved" that's harder to use than than the old, lousy low-tech version. And there's another thread going about how you're supposed to trashcan the automatic head if a light bulb burns out. The only thing I think the automatic control head has going for it is that it looks better.
