Hey guys, I wanted Justin from Balckbear to load a custom tune on my truck, but apparently, the '08 aren't able to be done via mail. Something about the transmission module or there abouts. I have two options, Any of you other guys in Central FL want your truck tuned? If we get 10 guys, he will come down.

Or, has anyone else had any luck with anyone here locally? I'd be willing to go as far as Tampa, but would prefer someone here in Central FL. I believe SuperChips is right here in Sanford, but don't know fi they do the custom tunes. Let me know what you guys are doing and what's worked for you. Thanks.

Have you thought about EFI Live at all? Please let us know if we can help in any way.

I'd love to go with EFI live. The problem I'm getting is that none of the tuning can be done on the tranny to firm up the shift points, etc with the new 6L85 (I think that's the new one) If I'm going to get the tune, I want to get the full benefit. I'm not incredibly familiar with EFI Live, can you guys accomplish this? Thanks

Keep in mind, mine is a gas motor.

The problem with the remote tuning on your particular vehicle is that the TCM is physically located inside the transmission. Effectively this means mail order tuning is not an option if you want anything done to your TCM because you can't pull it out and post it off, and if cores were available you couldn't physically fit it without stripping your tranny.

Tuning your trucks ECM and TCM is fine with EFILive, you simply connect our product to your OBDII port, download your ECM and TCM files, edit them then reflash them. Shift points can be changed via TCM programming.

If you require TCM changes, then your options are tuning yourself, physically visiting a professional tuner with your truck or purchasing EFILive and have someone email you cutom tunes if you don't want to tune yourself. Perhaps you should see if any EFILive vendors would write you custom tunes for your ECM and TCM?

Cheers
Cindy

Go EFI Live for sure. If you get program Justin should be able to get you a ECM and TCM thru email unless Im missing something. Maybe if you buy it from him he will include the tunes for free. Ask him. If not Nick at DuramaxTuner is SWEET. He included my tune with the purchase and man it rolls out. Customer service is second to none.

I see he has a sidekick now :D

I've done quite a few LMM's with excellent results:

I think he has a 3/4 ton gas truck, not an LMM...

You'll probably see more of Wes around here cutting his teeth on the boards :).

He'll be handling the tuning questions that don't need a 'bore me to death with technical information' answer :);)

That doesn't mean you can razz him!

If the truck is gas then this discussion belongs in another forum.

Thanks for the intro Nick. You guys can sure razz me if you'd like, i'll probably learn a bit more that way! I am a little green but have a good handle on the subject through listening to Nick and tinkering with my own truck. I'm here to touch base with people interested in Efi Live and to help answer any questions.

The thread originated in the electrical forum (I think) and was moved to 4th Gen by one of the mods, it really needs to be moved again to the Gasser forum.

Wes, you need to get yourself added to Nick's vendor status so that people know that you are part of Duramaxtuner.com

Cheers

Since this thread is in the wrong place and apparently about a gas engine, I'd prefer to discuss elsewhere. Either drop me an email or ask in one of the other threads about my tuning.
