Started my truck this moring and went inside to let it warm up and when I came out service engine soon light was on.Extracted code and it came up as fuel pressure regulator performance.What is the next step short of replacing it?:eek:

Does your truck lope really bad at idle? If so dump some 2 stroke oil in your tank. About 1 quart per tank.
Yes,will this cure that problem with fuel pressure performance code?

Mines been lopin for a year and a half , but haven't got a code for it yet. Sometimes it does it sometimes it don't.

The real fix is to replace it with a new one.

I put it in every third or fourth tank.
I put 2 cycle in every tank. It pretty much cleared up my lope idle.

I did at first but once it cleared up every third or fourth should be fine. I also run Stanadyne in every tank.

It is a fuel additive adds lubricity , cleaning and gelling. Also helps remove water.

Here it is 5 months later and that P0089 code is back.This time time whole truck rocks.Want to replace the fpvr,just wondering if I should go stock or aftermarket.
Does anyone have a link to aftermarket fuel pressure regulator?
bc6819 07-30-2009, 09:32 AM This is another GM ....ooppss... they changed manufactures on these pumps because they so much trouble with them...replacing mine now... my presssure was down...running lean..try pensacola diesel...i bought my updated pump from GM..
