Well ive finally got everything i need thanks to you guys and Eric at Merchant Automotive and I will be doing the swap this Friday-Sunday (if i can get my machine shop to do the heads Saturday) and all else goes well. I want to know if i should clean the injector tips with anything while they out or should i soak them in deisel fuel or laquer thinner or anyhting while they are out? I know there is going to be some rust falling down inside of the fuel inlet when i remove the fuel lines so i want to know the best way to get that out. I'm putting new fuel lines on.
How do i clean injector sleaves? I was just going to scrub them with a brass wire brush and let them sit in laquer thinner overnight. I was planning on having the heads hot tanked too while they were off. That shouldnt warp them should it?

Ok well after doing lots of reading i also realized i bought the wrong threadlocker. I have some permatex high strength red thread locker (the gell kind) i always use this for my stuff but apparently the GM stuff is different. I ordered loctite 272 which is suprisingly hard to find (not on Ebay or any local stores) and is $31 a 50ml bottle.
Also What size are the head bolt on the Duramax? I thoguht they were M12x1.5. I went out and bought a tap and die set today and just happened to check to make sure the tap was the same size (so i can chase the head bolt holes to clean them) and i cant get the 12x1.5 die onto the bolt but the threads are definately a 1.5 pitch and look identical to the tap. I dunno.
Might as well ask some more questions i have in here too. I see there are no intake gaskets used just GM sealer. I can use RTV ultra right? I have a tube of GM sealent but i just want to be sure incase i run out or step on the tube and it gets ruined or something. Also I was reading a tech article on wet sanding the block with a 2x4 and 600 grit paper after scraping the old gasket material. Anyone else do this? I was goin to try it. I will also be using copper spray on the gaskets and block surface for extra security.

Haha i mean do you guys soak parts in anything over night (like with carburetors) or are there any no-no chemicals to use any of them? Or would a brass wire bush be a bad idea for the stainless sleeves? What about the injectors? I would think leaving them sit unpside down in deisel or something would help clean out anything that fell into the injector. Blowing with compressed air would just push the debris farther in i would think.
