Just got back my '03 with 34,000 miles. Had several warranty issues before warranty expires, nothing serious and wanted balance rate checked to see injectors condition. Dealers regular diesel tech was on vacation but other techs serviced all warranty issues and ran a scan for codes--nothing found, all normal.
I told dealer I would wait till their diesel tech got back from vacation, I wanted him to check it out. He checked balance rate and found them all to be normal
(-.5 -.5 .4 -1. -.3 1.3 1.5 -1.4)....but digging a little futher he found diesel in the oil. This was on a friday, they discussed with zone rep and agreed to replace all 8 injectors. Injectors ordered on friday, injectors shipped and truck back in my hands the following thursday. Great service by my local Chevy dealer.
Now heres my thinking 1) this dealer doesn't do a lot of diesel work so maybe GM is a little more lenient on replacing injectors with small dealers that don't do a lot of diesel work as opposed to dealers who do a lot of injector replacements 2) I have read where many have had a hard time getting there dealer/GM to replace known bad injectors, because GM wants a hard failure first. I had good injectors(per balance rate test) but got them replaced because of diesel in the oil. Those that are having a hard time with GM, maybe a little diesel in the oil before it goes into the shop would help convince them you need help....just a thought.
