I want to put Nitto Terra Grappler 285/70R17s on American Racing ATX Mojave wheels on my truck. I have cranked the t's just enough to level the truck and I have a Buckstop front bumper so I am not worried about rubbing the bumper. My questions are:
1. Will it fit without rubbing the inner fender when turning?
2. How much trimming would I have to do/if any?
3. If it will rub, can I avoid trimming by using an offset/backspace and if so how much of an offset/backspace?
I really know nothing about offset and backspacing so please help a rookie out. I don't want to spend $1800+ and find out I made a big mistake.

They shouldn't rub. The only problem i had was the e-brake cable on drivers side holding the liner out and sometimes it would rub. You can tie it back to fix that.

you should be able to fit those without rubbing by zip tying your fender liners back.
I was running 305/55/20" (33's) Terra Grapplers without a leveling kit, and without rubbing by turning up the stock keys on my LMM.

I am running the same tire on Hummer rims. I have not turning my bars as much as you. I trimmed a 1/2" off the bottom of the valance. You really don't even notice. i tied the ebrake cable back a little and tiewraped the inner liner back on that side as a precaution. There's a photo of the trimming in my garage.

6 turns on my tbars and i've run 33x13.5 tires on 16x10 wheels and 35x12.5 tires on 17x8 wheels with zero rubbing after very minor trimming on a stock suspension.

I have 265/70/17 factory take offs on my 06. I'm planning to install 285's when these wear out so I've been watching the 285 threads real close. From what I've been reading the GMC's have less valance clearance than the chevys and need trimming in more cases. I'm hoping cranking the T bars will be enough but we'll see.

You would think they would fit okay. I have 285/70/17s on my wifes suburban and they don't comeanywhere near rubbing at stock height. You would think the truck could fit them.

First off these trucks should come stock with these tires. I cannot believe the difference in looks compared to the stock donuts. On my LMM (285-70/R17) they rubbed at full crank or 3/4 to full crank if goin over bumps. I also had to remove my front mud flaps (duraflaps) and cut them in half for clearance. I trimmed a few inches off the rear inner liner as well to solve the problem. I'm sure if I was doing some serious off-roading they'd rub still but normal day-day driving its fine.
Please note though I only cranked my t-bars enough to get about 1" of lift. Looks good, rides good but still has a slight rake. More lift and I probably wouldn't have had to trim as much. also I didn't zip tie them back but in hindsight it would have reduced the trimming too :(
Good luck!

The NBS silverados are mush different then the old body styles. I have a NBS 2500 with a leveling kit and my 285/75/16 BFG All Terrains rubbed on the rear of the front fender. I never tied it back or cut anything. I just never turned so sharp as to cause it to rub. But the do rub. My front end sits about 2" higher then stock and they still rub.

Got Cooper SST 33/17 A bit rubbing when full turn, Cranked the T-bars (leveling the truck) (terrible road tires by the way)
Getting now 305/50/20" on 20x9" with 1/4" offset.

Thanks for all the replys. I am getting the tires and wheels next week, they have to order the wheels with a 3-4 day delivery time.
I think the grey wheels are going to look great with the Buckstop bumpers and they should give me 1/2"-3/4" more ground clearence which will help when crossing those deep narrow creeks on my hunting lease.

Agree. My 06 with 285/75/16 BFG K/O's rubbed with keys. My 08 with 295/70/17's rubbed until the lift.
