I was one of the victims of the blown headgasket "mystery".Just completed the job myself because it was out of warranty and I couldn't afford the $6,000 repair. Anyway I completed the job with a few exhaust mods including the EGR delete. I removed mine altogether and removed the EGR cooler. I knew I would get codes, but now after it reaches operating temp it feels like it's defueling. I'm guessing this is related to the EGR not being there and threrfore not plugged in. Anyone else experience this? I already have the Edge/Attitude and can't afford a real programmer like the EFI Live. Help please?

Try a finger stick from kenedy diesel or can probable find one on here for sale. I have one on mine and works great. Just did the EGR blocker plate.

I was told the finger stick won't work because the EGR isn't there and therefore not plugged in for the computer to find. And thats according to Kennedy Diesel. He tried selling me his reprogrammer, and thats where I run out of money! Again:(

Marty, Diesel Smog inspection is coming to California next year and you will have to have the smog stuff to pass! :rolleyes:

I would think the "Fingers" stick would still block the codes without the EGR. The stick still works if you unplug the connector!

Just try and find a Predator 2.02. I know its the money thing but the Predator will turn the EGR off by just installing a tune or you can modify your stock tune. Either way, you could sell that Edge and buy something better. I made money on my Edge when I sold it. Made fifty bucks after a year of having the chip, and then bought my Predator for $100 less than I had originally bought my Edge. Wound up with an extra $150 and a better programmer in the end.

I kind of heard about the "smog" deal next year so I am keeping all my OE stuff and I guess I'll just have to deal with it then. I'm trying to move to Idaho, but no jobs as we all know, then hopefully I wouldn't have to worry about the smog stuff. I just ordered the finger stick so I'll see if that works first. It's a pretty cheap mod.
