: Lemons?
Kappa9012 04-06-2005, 08:43 PM Ok I've already had two injectors replaced and my truck is now scheduled to go back in on friday for the 4th time.
I know 7 is the magic number for them to even consider it a lemon, but how does this whole process work? Do they buy the truck back at your purchase price, minus a little depretiation? Or do they just pay it off? I can't imagine they would just trade you trucks.
doughboy 04-06-2005, 09:33 PM I think that each state is different in terms of the "Lemon Law" Ask around in your area and find a good attorney who specializes in that area.

duramaximizer 04-06-2005, 11:39 PM I know after so many they will replace them all. IDK about buy backs, i think you have to go to the ford forum to get the facts on that. trust me, they know.
coyotekid 04-06-2005, 11:47 PM If it's just injectors, I personally wouldn't get them to lemon the truck. I know it extremely frustrating and kinda embarrassing when you've got a brand new truck and have to tell people (especially other brand owners) that you're already on new injectors.
But, this is one of the few really weak links in the D/A combo.
And, they'll get it figured out sooner or later. For now, just get the injectors replaced and go with the flow.
briano 04-06-2005, 11:48 PM Little advice...do your homework and be sure to bring this to THEIR attention..or they won't even worry about it. My tranny went out in my old HD..bad too..check out the pic. Only 1400 miles.
Anyways, they worked on it 3 times within 30 days which qualifies for lemon law here in Texas. I went to the general manager, showed him the lemon law print out and how many times my truck was there.. they overnighted an entire new tranny that day and I had the truck back the next morning. Pretty cool..but sad I had to do that.

Kappa9012 04-07-2005, 10:31 AM Yeah i'm not really wanting to get a new truck, but I wanted to know what my options were.
TEXMudder 04-07-2005, 11:09 AM Each state is different. Texas its 3 for the same problem or 30 days out of service. So 7 would put you at twice the requirement. Having a Lemon can work out in two ways. Either you go through your states Lemon procedures or GM will buy it back before you get that far. In most cases they want to stop you ahead of time.
towin43 04-07-2005, 11:42 AM I had GM buy back a new truck in '95. Work with the service manager and let them know of your frustration. Keep all documentation so you have a timeline of the repairs and down time. Escalate to the 800 number in your owners manual if you are not getting satisfation from the service manager. Keep your conversations polite and professional and you should not have to go to the extreme of a lemon law if push comes to shove. GM gave me all of my money back on my truck towards the purchase of another after 6 months and 5,500 miles of use. Good luck!
Kendall69 04-07-2005, 11:59 AM Lemon law is great, I had two buy backs, two different Mfgs. The last one I took it in three days in a row ( Ca. says three times same problem) each time they said can not duplicate problem, i smiled and walked out. Send a letter to the Mfg. and said come pick it up, Ca. says it’s Lemon. Oh - then I got their attention, Regional service guys calling me, Regional Managers etc. Begging for one more try, I said sure, BUT no fix this time it’s your. Long story short, they called said go ahead order yourself a new one.
What was amazing about the whole deal is I got a great deal on the vehicle like 10Koff, yet when they bought it back they gave me full MSRP, plus they paid for the tires/wheels I put on, and other options.
So I actually made a profit.
If it keeps happening go for it, a bit of a pain, make sure you have another vehicle to drive as it will take a while, like a month or so.
snowsdog 04-07-2005, 12:53 PM In michigan its 3 times for the same problem also within the first 12 months of ownership, with no fix. Replacing the injectors fixes the problem until they fail again, not sure how that would work in the lemon law as they do fix it but the parts continue to fail??
I was involved in that with the 01HD I had with the piston slap issue. I had taken it in 7 times for that as it kept getting worse, unfortunatley the atty informed me I ran out of time to qualify for lemon status.
I took my 04.5 in thisd morning for the third time for the surge issue as the flash has not fixed that on my truck. If its still surging when I get it back I am going straight to my Atty about the lemon issue.
Kappa9012 04-07-2005, 07:58 PM I just looked in Illinois it's 4 occurances and it has to be newer than 12 months, also if your vehicle is out of comission for 30 days it also qualifies.
Pure Diesel 04-07-2005, 08:08 PM Each state varies. California its 3-times unless its a life threating situation, then its 1 time. I got all my info about the lemon law from the internet. Go on line to your states attorney general office. Every time GM gave me the run around, I started the conversation out with "According to the Attorney Generals Office and then I would state the facts". Got there mouths to shut up real quick. Log everything you do(phone calls, letters sent, what the conversation was about, etc. Stay on top of them and don't let them push you around. Good luck.
dmaxalliTech 04-07-2005, 10:28 PM I would go to a different dealer in most of the above cases. Poor/incorrect diagnosis is often the culprit.
