I have gotten the dreaded P0380.

2001 LB7 w/ 188,000. According to GM my Inservice date is Sept 2001 therefore my 7 years was up in Sept 2008. Has anyone had any luck on a 2001 in getting them to gracefully cover or at least give some assistance to the Glow Plug/Controller replacement? From what GM Customer Service tells me it is discretionary but up to my local Steeler. Lucky me!

With the way my P0380 went the Batter power died quite quickly to the point that it died and had to be towed. Just curious and i'm pretty sure that this is totally related to the Battery Loss. As the Battery is on the back end of power will the torque and overall power of the Truck diminish also?

Due to basic timing my truck is at the Steeler awaiting diagnosis on monday so i'm hopeful they will be kind but not holding my breath. As i'm sure they wont like any of the aftermarket electronics and such I have. Most seem to look for something that is not there's to blame as the result of the issue. I guess its there way of justifying them slicing your wallet open.

Thought ideas?

The 7 years was for the injector special policy, nothing to do with the glow plugs and controller.

There is a 10 year policy for the glow plugs on certain years and emissions models, basicaly the california emissions. Search for that and see if it applies to your truck.

Its so very sad that even GM Customer Service is not up on what "THEY" have said they would do. I spoke to them person to person directly and gave them the Recall # and my Vin # and they were saying the 7 year. So im hoping that my Steeler with the Recall # can cover the Glow Plug/Controller. At this point I dont know which are bad yet. Im guessing the Controller and probably a few of the Plugs.
