I would like to know what the problem could be. The transmission seems to slip right after startup and after put into drive I will give it a little gas and the motor will spin, but the truck will not pull forward so I just slowly drive away. After the motor warms up then the slipping seems to go away. The only time I ever notice any slipping is first thing in the morning after the truck is fully cold and when the transmission is first put into drive? The rest of the time the transmission will not slip at all and will pull away from a stop without any problems. Could it be a torque converter problem? thanks for any input? I was not going to do anything about it until it got worse as its not that much of a problem since its only when truck is cold?

Is the fluid burnt or dark colored? If it is then there is clutch damage. If not you might be starting out in 2nd gear for some reason.

fluid is not burn't or dark. What would cause tranny to start out in second gear?

I take it you have a 4L80E. Need mileage, need scan for codes. Most likely broken dished plate in direct drum. Direct drum ring grooved, callapsed teflon rings, worn out valve bore in valvebody, worn out stator bushings in pump, bad converter. If it is high mileage; all of the above. I do a lot of these.
