OK guys, it's now well known that 285's on a set of 16X8's will require some bumper trimming.
anyway I'm there and need to trim. what are the best ways to do this? (tools?, angles?, tricks?, things to avoid?). Let me learn from your experience. Any pictures?
Thanks in advance.

Remember, it is easier to trim more off later then it is to put some back. :)

Use a good, sharp knife.
DO NOT put your hand behind the valence when you cut. (don't ask) Just work slowly.
Only cut out 1/8" increments at a time, and keep testing clearance till you feel comfortable. Max's advice is SOOOOOO true!!!
I cut a total of 1/2" on my '02 http://client.webshots.com/album/305613976aVJrWx
Hope it helps.:pig:

A chop saw will make short work of it if you have one. If you have a random orbit sander, a piece of 100 will do wonders to plastic and you can shape it if you want.

use a bottle jack against the frame and push the bottom corner of the front bumper out and the valance will go with it
