Not gonna go too serious on the mods, maybe the Edge, Exhaust, and some combination like that, but does anyone know how much the Extended warranty is? Do you think it's worth it? Only reason i ask is because on my last vehicle, my Cadillac's rear end locked up at 72,000 miles and they covered it- all $3,219.00 worth. So do you think it's worth it or no?

I was told by the dealer that I would be looking at around 3k for the GMPP for my truck.

He also offered me one through GE Finiancial 5 Star for about 2k

both of these were Bumper to bumper 5 years 100k.

The pricing on the programs depend on the current mileage of your vehicle and how many additional years/ miles you want it covered for.

I am not sure if it is worth it or not. I am in the same boat as you. I had him include the GE Finaicial 5 Star on my note. But I have until the 20th to cancel it at a full refund.

If you want a good deal on the GM Major Guard program go to the following web site you will be quite surprised.

My dealer more or less added it on to my purchase without telling me. Being my first new vehicle purchase, I just signed away like a moron and didn't really think about it until a year later. I called them up to ask about canceling it, but it seems like they were going to charge an arm and a leg for the "administrative fee" so I just said the heck with it and kept it. I don't know if I will ever use it or not, but I surely wish I hadn't got it.

Your trucks come with a If I remember correctly..3 yr/36,000 so all your really paying for is the last 2 years...I think GM covers the allison for 100k..I use my insurance agent allstate...after the 3/36 is over up to 100k...And its transferable to any car..or end it and They send me the difference...

I bought the GMPP extended warranty when I bought the truck new. Truck has 51,250 miles now. The Service Engine Soon light came on this morning, drove right to the dealer. At 2 pm Service manager called and said that my Fuel Filter Head Heater had shorted out and they had to replace the whole filter head and here is the kicker. THE GMPP EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS PART. So I had to pay the $100 deductible on the 100,000 engine warranty. I ask what does this extended warranty cover and he said allot of things, but not the Fuel Filter Head. So I don't know if it is worth the money or not for the extended warranty.

I ain't worth the paper it is written on! That goes for the 100k mile powertrain warranty that doesn't cover chit in the powertrain except for the motor. As my cousin had a torque converter go out on them.

Thankful

I'm sorry for your situation, but it doesn't surprise me. That's exactly why I'll not buy an extended warranty.

Just remember - the warranty covers everything except what you take it in for.

yes I am figuring this out now. they had a rep come to the stealer today to assess my vehicle. he authorized the high pressure pwer steering lines but not the intermediate shaft noise, as he said he couldn't hear it. they are a crock if you ask me. maybe i'll just get my tranny to slipping and get them to order a suncoast stage 3 for me. i have a buddy that owns a shop and does work with extended warranty companies. we'll see what i can stretch out of it.

I stay away from them. Way back sold maintenance agreements on household appliances. Probably 10 percent of what was taken in was returned in services. These things are money makers for the vendor. A few people make out well by having them but most never even use them. The odds are greatly in favor of the house and the salesperson gets a nice fat commission up front.

Do the LLY's have factory extended injector coverage like the LB7's do????? If not, an extended warranty would be nice to cover injectors.

On the last 3 trucks I owned, the cost of repairs after original warranty was up and the cost of extended warranty were about equal. It was pretty much a break even deal for me. I know it's a crap shoot but I'm buying one for the new Dmax. This is the only thing I buy extended warrantys on. Cost me $1480.00 for 5 year/75000 mile at GM dealer.

Wow. I just went to the GMOUTLET website and got a quote of $1875 for the 2345 5yr/100K warranty on my 3500. Called the dealer (just bought it Friday night) and the beat it, they quoted $1795. Thanks for the info!

The Allison is only covered under the bumper to bumper 3 yr/36K plan.

The fuel injectors on the LLY are covered to 100K, less $100.00 after the end of the bumper to bumper. There are notes on this board saying GM may cover the injectors after 100K on a case by case basis.

What you are buying is an insurance plan. The question to ask is, how lucky are you feeling today?, and can your cash flow cover an expensive repair. I feel it is a well built truck and it does have the 100K coverage on the engine, and it is not my daily driver, so I did not go with the extended warranty. Time will tell .....

FWIW
I purchased a GMPP for my 99 2500 just before the 3/36 expired. I paid just over 1400 at the selling dealership. Kept the truck 6 years and 65k miles.
I believe it paid for itself. Slip yokes(2) 4wd switch, steering shaft(2) tranny leak, front pinion leak, rear pinion leak, water pump, cracked leather, tailgate latch, fuel tank sensor.......shall I continue?
I plan on purchasing another for the Dmax when the time comes.
