I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed that on extended cab gm pickups something loosens up in the extended cab doors and will "jiggle" and make noise when you hit bumps? My family owns a couple different extended cab pickups and they all develop this noise after a while, but the 4 door models don't have the problem. I think it is from the flexing of the cab with out an actual welding in door jam. So has anyone else noticed their doors making noise? Does anyone have a fix for it? It is driving me nuts.
Thanks

I had the same problem. What I do is spray a little lube on the door catches and all squeaking is gone. Usually have to reapply it every month or two. Hope this hepls.

I fixed my '02 HD Ext....
by buying a crew with some cab strength thanks to that set of pillars!

Hmmm, so it appears that is is the door latches getting a little loose and then squeking? I tried wiggling everything that holds the door closed. Only thing that really moved was the actual latch had side to side play in it, an you can't really tighten it up.
I wish there was a better solution then just spraying oil on it once a month.

I searched for you guys (hint, hint) and found that
1) some guys found their doors to be out of alignment or the latches needed adjustment so the dealer had to "tighten" the doors up
2) Others found that the weatherstrip starts to dry out, and the rubbing door starts to squeak. DmaxalliTech recommended using silicone spray on the weatherstrips as part of your regular maintenence schedule.

weatherstrip or adjustment, been there done that. It's cab flex/twist. Take the doors off an ext cab and look at what's left...;)

I always used a silicon spray or WD-40 to lube the latches, but the squeek would always return eventually. Last fall I used some 40 weight oil in an oil can to lube them, & I guess I hadn't really thought of it, but I haven't noticed any squeeks or rattles since then, so you might give that a try. Maybe it just needs a thicker lubricant? I'd still use a silicon spray on the weatherstripping, though.

I was driving around today and I noticed a few things. I don't really have a door squeek, it is more like something rattling when I hit a bump. I don't know whether it is in the door or not. But I do know that it did not do this stock, and seems to get worse from rough roads and body flex.

I noticed my passenger side rear door was rattling real bad and I discovered it was not closed all the way. I closed it nice and hard and it stopped rattling.:D

My 01 does it as well. I sometimes think that it is the wing window that is rattling and not the door itself. Anyone have this problem?
