In my opinion GM would be smart to extend their injector warranty on all years up to current including new. That would ease a lot of peoples minds especially when buying new.

I agree 100% if GM owners could stop stressing about the injectors we would have the best trucks made!

A customer of mine, who owns a GMC, just had his injectors replaced. He was told the warranty is now 7 years or 200,000 miles....

Just noticed the original question was regarding 2003 models......this truck was an 01.

I hope it comes true for peace of mind since I had a 2 go out at 25,000 on my 03. Other than injectors these engines seem to be pretty durable.

This is somewhat off the subject, but... say you were out of warranty and your injectors went bad and needed replaced, would it not be a better idea to just buy a set of aftermarket performance injectors and have a shop, other than the dealership do the install, or just do it yourself? I may be missing something here, but as far as I know, the injectors from GM aren't very reliable and it seems like an aftermarket injector may be more durable.

Stop stressing?????????

It only delays the stress for a couple years .......

I wanted to put a half million on my truck and drive it into the ground. Now I have to dump it at the end of the warranty.

PC,
Just because a set of injectors go bad does not mean you can't keep your truck, and there is really no reason to worry after you are out of warranty... if you figure it this way: By the time you have injectors issues out of warranty, the truck should probably be paid off, or just about paid off, now if you were to trade it in for something new you would be stuck with a new monthly payment. Instead of buying a new truck, just figure that it will take about 5 monthly payments to pay for a set of injectors and then you can keep the truck you have and like and not have to worry about it.

the aftermarket injectors are the same Bosch injectors that GM uses but with different nozzles. There are no other brands besides Bosch.

If, and I have not got anything in the mail yet, they extend 03 to 200K/ 7yr they will have to do all LB7s (ie early 2004s). Don't you think? You got to ask yourself why did they do up thru 02s. There really is not significant difference with other LB7s is there?

That is an excellent point. Any of the experts out there that can tell me what difference there is between the 01/02 injectors and 03 and up?
My friends 03 just lost his injectors on his chevy. His son told me that they put in new injectors, injector pump and cleaned the intake and fuel system. I don't know how true this is but I am hoping to look at the service receipt. He had less miles than me somewhere in the 20K range with no mods on the truck, and dealer maintained.

Thought I read on this forum that one of the vendors was bringing injectors in from Italy for trial.Anyone else recall that.

Would be nice if it is true, I just picked up a 2003 Chevy Duramax 2500HD Ext Cab with LT. 7,300 miles on it, I'm thinking I'll be pretty hard pressed to put 100,000 miles on it before the time limit is up on the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty,, I'll have a hard time putting the 36K on it before the 3 years are up in 2006, but I'll have fun trying get those miles on that Allison transmission.

that theory wont work for me,i have 33000 miles(weekend only) on my 04,i have had it right at 1 year..so i will be way out of warranty before its paid for..but i haven't been worry about the injector anyway until i surf this site, then i start to panic:eek: so i don't visit for awhile and the feeling goes away....actually i am just driving the piss out of it and when they go i will cross that bridge..but according to my oil analysis i have nothing to worry about..everything is A ok..

i also have an inside connection at my chevy dealer i service,:cool2: it is good to be the toolman:lol:

The 01-02 injectors were one design and one problem, some of the 03's had an internal seal failure, 04 LB7 in theory have all the 01-02,03 problems fixed.
