I'm asking this question because I recently became interested in battery preservation products and ran into several products that purport to do the things listed above. One of them is a toxic mixture of cadmium and cobalt that dissolves plate corrosion (however there are non-toxic alternatives), one suggests the use of Epsom salts or some stuff called EDTA to dissolve plate corrosion (but are a temporary fix at best according to what I've read), and the pulse charger somehow knocks off plate corrosion by surging current through the battery, restoring the battery's ability to hold a charge. After doing some research I'm finding that the corrosion of the plates is what kills batteries to begin with, it can't be avoided as it's the chemical process by which electricity is produced, and the problem is temperature dependent (here in Las Vegas and the desert at large, batteries only last a couple years due to the heat). The world throws away about 160 million car batteries each year (where do you think they're going?) so I’m on a mock environmental quest to collect public opinion about battery preservation.

Thanks!
