I have a 2003 DMAX Ext Long bed that I want to lift. I have been looking at Fabtec, RCD, and CST....anybody have a recommendation? I like the Fabtec but I am worried about the diff have to have a mount point cut and relocated, and the angle on the cv joints. Am I over reacting? CST is nice but you have to cut the tab off the frame and its got more hardware/brackets. What do u guys recommend? What do u have on ur truck and any issues?:help:

All the knuckle lift kits require cutting the front diff mount except skyjacker. If you want most expensive and supposed to be strongest, go cst. If you want quality and good shocks and pretty strong, get an rcd. The rcd is actually pretty strong, moreso than it looks in pictures. If you are doing the install yourself I would rather install the rcd. Lots of guys are fans of the cst too though. Depends on your wallet... Cv angle with either depends a lot on how high you set it. The rcd will have a bit more angle because it drops the diff less, but it is still within acceptable angles. Not as bad as most of the trucks with cranked torsion bars. HD cvs are pretty tought anyway. The tie rods will bend before you snap a cv.

Stick to Cognito...its all bolt on and no welding required...That way you can take the lift kit off w/out any problems. I am very pleased with the kit.

Fabtech, RCD, CST, whatever... Basically you should consider the lift as a permanent procedure for your truck (funny, that's similar to what the doc said about my vasectomy).
Anyway back on task. Basically they all build very good kits with pros and cons to all. I went with Fabtech because the place that installed it had done them before and were impressed by the kit. Probably could have spent just as much on the RCD kit that comes with the Bilsteins than I did by adding them to the Fabtech kit.

Bottom line, the above brands are all quality kits. Pick on how high you want and how large your pocket book is.

Go with the CST. You won't regret it.

So Hey, Pit... Where are you buying the CST kit? Are you having it installed? Will they install it where you're buying the kit? Thanks in advance. Brock.

Let me clean up my diggi cam and i will get pics...lol....Your right its worthless with out it.... I should have them by the end of the week....this gives me time to figure out how to post them :). I went with a 6inch kit, bilstiens, new upper control arms (capable of going dual shocks in future) with uni-ball joints. I am running BFG 315/75/16's. White Motorsports did my truck and my brother in laws...we are both impressed with them.

3750 for lift, tires... what about wheels? what size tires? i'm in the same boat you are.

If your talking about using a 6" lift the most common and best tire choice is a 35'' or 315 (metric mesurment, and i think it happends to be 1/2'' smaller than a 35"). Wheel size is just preference, anything between 16"-20" is what you will usually see. I think the sweet spot is 17"-18" but thats just me. I hope that helps http://dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
