I have a 2003 Gmc D/A with about 35000 miles and I was looking underside and noticed seeping of oil between the engine and the trans, also the little round metal plug on the bottom of the trans is wet...What could this be? I will have to take it to the stealer and see what they think... Could this be the trans bolts that are leaking up behind the converter?
To me it looks like oil...Kind of black in appearance
any thoughts about this so when i go to the stealer I can have the upper hand and i dont have to hear the this is normal
thanks

My manual trans Duramax had what to appear to be a leak in the same spot. Ended up putting a clutch pack in it and a flywheel.

My 04.5 has oil seeping betwee the bellhousing and the block on the drivers side. Appears to be motor oil. Any ideas where it might be coming from and if I should worry?

My '03 does the same thing.... A small seepage that appears at the bottom of the bell housing. On long drives, I can tell where the drips fly off and hit the rear end or rear shocks. Strangely though, I do not have any drips in the garage????

lower oil pan. mine is wet all over the pan. I have seen this many times. the oil looks as if its comming from the driver side area areoun the nut that fastens the corner of the pan. kind of left rear corner.

Last night i wiped it all down with carb cleaner to see if i could find the spot where it was coming from... and ya it does seem like the driver side and i have never seen a spot on the ground...
well got home from work and rolled under to see still dry were i wiped it down...
i will put a few more miles on it to see if how much or how long it takes to show....I wonder if its just a small amount, It might now be worth taking it to the stealer.....

It Took Me I While To Figure It Out But It Was The Fuel Pump.the Diesel Would Fill Up In The "v" Of The Engine And Roll Down The Back Side Inbetween The Tranny And The Motor.the Thing That Threw Me Off Was There Was No Smell To The Liquid.apparently After Diesel Heats Up It Loses Its Sent.the Way I Could Tell Was The Engine Always Smelt Like Diesel.i Took The Pump Out And Could Not Determine Where The Pump Was Leaking So I Replaced It.it Took Me ,two Excellent Mechanics,12 Hours And $1500 Cdn To Replace It And That Was The Trick.

Seems like the losulfur stuff is processed so much that it no longer aromatic as we used to know. I guessing ultra losulfur will be even more so.

I had a leak at the back of the engine, too. The Stealer kept it overnight to replace a bolt at the back of the head. It sounded like they had done a lot of them. Might be a TSB out on it?

the crankcase breater runs down the front of the motor on the PS.. when my breathers is gets some oily residue on the oil pan, etc... always has.
