Well I just got some 285/60/18's on my stock 1500 z71, and now it seems to wander alot. Kinda like it is really windy outside. I didnt have it aligned after the new wheels and tires either. What could be the problem? I had 285/70/17 bfg's on there and had it checked with them about a month ago and they said the alignment was perfect. So I wouldnt think it was out of alignment. Maybe the swaybar??? Thanks for the help guys.

Depending on the roads yours tires could be following the groves or arch in the road. that tire is 11 or so inches wide compared to 8 or so stock. A heavier steering stabilzer will help that also. I hade 13.50 on my 07.5 and it did it bad due to the width just get use to it. Oh the up side you have a bitchin wheel and tire combo.

yeah i thought it might just be following the groves in the road to. But it didnt do that with my 285/70/17's so i didnt know. I figured maybe my swaybar bushings might be bad or something but they look ok to me. I might run it by the tire shop sometime and just have them check it real quick. Oh and here in the next couple months when the dmax is here, i will be running the 13.5 also. :) Thanks for the help too.

Could be tires arent as stable on sidewalls....kinda like the ole bias ply wonder. Also check ur sway bar end links. Also check proper wheel/rim width. You might need wider rims if your tires are like a C load range. I ran C for bout couple months on stock HD rims and it did same thing around curves and such.

The wheels are 18x9 and the tires call for a 8-10inch wheel. I will look at the sway bar end links and see how they look. I think they are lt tires but not sure on the load. Its just a 1500.

If you went bigger, the tires likely got heavier. Some tires weigh more than others regardless of size actually. Same thing with rims. You will likely feel the extra weight in the way it steers and handles to some degree. But, if any front end parts like steering stabilizer, tie rods, joints, wheel bearings are worn, the heavier wheel/tire amplifies the feel. And may wear those parts out a bit faster. It may just be the tires, sometimes just playing with pressure helps.

Also I just remebered that when mine were new it kinda did that too untill they broke in a little. Id give it some miles and see if it improves if everything else checks out

I've noticed that depending on the Rubber Compound the Air Temps. play a BIG part in it too. After a few minutes of driving the Rubber heats up and gets softer and the Truck rides better.

Check the SwayBar Bushings and End Links, make sure they are good.

And IMO with anything Suspension, Tire, Wheel related, you should always have an Alignment done.

tire pressure?? just a thought my truck rides way different between my cooper 285 on stock wheels i run the winter and my 285/65 18 i run in the summer, and i was messin around a bunch this summer with tire psi beings max psi was 80 but i dont tow much weight that often i changed psi a bunch and you could definately tell a difference when you changed the pressure in them
