: 7-9 cognito question's for LMM
Beckman 01-25-2009, 07:04 PM 1. Am I going to need a new front driveline? I only use 4wd at speed under 25.
2. For the rear I really don't want bigger then a 4" block or airbags. I want to set it at 7 maybe 8 if there is tire clearence problems. So I can only do 4" block and a add-a-leaf, or deavers right? With deavers will the rear sag alot easier with loads or are they rated about the same load capacity as stock?
3. I thought the non drop torsion was only for the 4-6 kit, but I saw a 10-12 kit like that. So dose the 7-9 come non torsion drop too? If so why don't you ever see them?
varty yo 01-25-2009, 07:38 PM 1. yes you will need a new front CV style driveshaft
2. go with the 6" deavers for the rear. it will sit perfect
3. as of right now they dont make a NTD kit for the 7-9" not sure why
MAX4X4 01-25-2009, 09:24 PM 1. No
2. 6" Deavers
3. Not for 7-9
varty yo 01-26-2009, 07:57 AM he will need a shaft for driving in 4wd. ive been dealing with heavy vibration when in 4wd.
SPY169 01-26-2009, 02:14 PM OP said he would not use 4whl hi at speeds above 25mph, at those speeds he probably will not need a drive shaft, however if he does use his ehicle at speeds above that he would be smart to get it.
varty yo 01-26-2009, 02:32 PM i thought that also , but mine started doin it at lower speeds also. its definetly worth the extra coin to get the proper shaft then your good for all speeds.
MAX4X4 01-26-2009, 02:59 PM I just drove yesterday for 5 hours in the snow in Lake Tahoe on highway 50 in 4 wheel drive.....speeds were 0-35mph and mine was perfect. Maybe it depends on how good the factory drive line is balanced.
bjadamsr6 01-26-2009, 04:01 PM no new front drive shaft on my truck. i drove between 30-50 mph in the dunes no problem
down4bmx 01-26-2009, 05:34 PM You will need helper bags as to deavers don't have the load capacity of the stocks springs but ride hella nice!
MAX4X4 01-26-2009, 06:51 PM I guess it depends on how much load we are talking about?
What do you normally haul or tow Beckman?
With the Deavers I would get bags..........it's on my list of goodies to get.
Beckman 01-26-2009, 07:27 PM I'm planning on getting a good size toyhauler like 32ft. Would it ride like crap with a add-a-leaf and a block? Or are there any other springs out there with a load capacity close to stock?

Get some Deavers and airbags.
Yes it will ride like crap adding another leaf to the factory spring pack.
Here are some guys with deavers, airbags, and nice trailers:

Nor-Cal Nick 01-27-2009, 12:12 PM The front drive line saga is hit and miss on trucks. In Cali we never really find our trucks in 4wd at high speeds so Cali truck owners don't really upgrade the front drive line. Now if you plan on driving above 30mph in 4wd then I would buy the drive line to be safe.
AS for the rear springs, I also say spend the money on Deavers for a great street ride and bags for the hauling. You can start with a add a leaf and block but if you want a "better" ride then you are spending money in the wrong direction.
Beckman 01-27-2009, 07:41 PM Thanks for all the advice, this websites awesome. The only problem is I want to spend way to much money when I look around on here.
bjadamsr6 01-27-2009, 08:09 PM That is for sure. This site is very expensive. My girlfriend tries to keep me off here
