The speaker on passenger door is blown on my truck, same thing happened on my 1500 truck same door. Is this a common problem. Is there an aftermarket that will fit in stock location.

yeah mine did the same thing. never even had the volume up loud at all. i swear its done it since new, but it is sporadic. seems to be worse when it is cold out...

Yes I think the cold caused the problem. I want to replace all the door speakers with aftermarket without cutting or modifing. looks like woofer and tweeter are seperate is there just 1 pair of wires. Was thinking I could put coax speaker where woofer is. I want it to look like stock.

either way you will have to drill holes for screws to mount them in the door. oem speakers are a big clip system that you cant use on aftermarket speakers. but any 6.5 or 6 and 3/4s speaker will work. you can use coax or components and replace the tweeter. later would sound better. what i do is just take the old tweet out and take a piece of abs plastic and make a new tweeter mount. after that a run 2 bolts through the old plastic bolt holes for the old tweeter. other. than drilling the 4 small holes for the woofer for some screws nothing is cut hacked or anything.

nekidhillbilly, have you done this to your truck? I'm wondering how factory speakers are wired just a 2wire ? If I go with Seperate components can I get 6" woofers? That seems small .

you can get 6.5 or 6.75 woofers it doesn't really matter

6.5 or 6.75 like above it is just 2 wires into a plug and a seperate for the tweeter but 2 wires for it in a plug. i put kappa components in my 01 that i had. the tweeter wires just leave them unplugged in the door you wont need them since your will have crossover built buy the speaker company.

they will cost you double and you dont need anything to special to install speakers in just some sheet metal screws a piece of speaker wire about a foot long and some either crimp connectors or solder and heat shrinks

i prefer solder and heat shrinks

but you can get all that at lowes or walmart for 5 bucks

Thanks Guys checked on Crutchfield the site does say what fits in front or rear doors. Then I checked other places prices Crutchfield prices at or below. I don't think I need installation dodads, but was kinda interested in sound deadener on doors I haven't had any doors apart in a while they used to use paper behind door panels do they still do that? Also any tricks getting panels off I always seem to break stuff taking apart

I have a 2006 2500HD and the stock drivers was bad. I can see that they are exposed in the door (water) etc. I just bought a pair of 6 !/4 Polk 2 waysg from Circuit City..going out of business. It took a little more than 2hrs. Easy to take off door panels off. I took the air hose to the inside of door/panel, and put a piece of 6mil plastic behind speaker and screwed in. Cut off excess plastic...sounds good.
Good luck
