Anyone use Lucas Oil additives? I have an 07 lmm with about 12k miles on it and thought about using some. The City mechanic at my work puts it in just about every vehicle in the fleet. I only used it once in my gas Suburban but never in the diesel vehicles that I have owned....

I personally am not all that happy with Lucas Oil and Royal Purple. Test after test on here show that their marketing is much better then their product. I (before this site) used to run Royal Purple in everything until I started seeing report after report on here bashing them. I now run Mobil 1 in my truck and am going to switch to Amsoil on the next oil change. This is just my personal opinion. Look at how the Lucas Oil Upper Cylinder Treatment "helps" in the lubricity additive study above.

I agreee, additives are more of a "add on sale" or gimick. Basically is telling you the oil you are using is not doing its job. Today's oils are very capable of lubrication these engines without any help. JMO

Yea I agree...I also use Mobil 1 in this truck. Just wondered if anybody used the stuff. I tried it once in by Suburban but never used it again.

Stanadyne is the only additive approved by GM.

check out bobistheoilguy.com and search for lucas. There is (was anyway) a video showing how the lucas oil stabilizer or what ever they call it really messes up the anti foaming agents in your oil and it can really mess things up. Also it's not much more than a really thick oil, so you may as well just switch to a higher viscosity oil to start with, it thats what your after.

Most people are using Mobil 1 5w30 in their transfer case , 3 qt fill through the spedo sensor, supposed to be better and not evaporate as easily as the atf fluid, do a search and check it out.
