You can. All you have to do is run large wires to parrallel the two batteries and you are good.

do they make a bracket for that...

The aux battery was a GM option, so yes they make the bracket. However, why two batteries??? You run 'em both dead, and the alternator will run at max to bring 'em back, shortening the life of the alternator. The GM option puts the second battery online only after the engine starts.

So, inquiring minds wanna know, Why two???

Mine came with two, both Delco battery's went open circut soon and I only replaced one. I converted to the passenger firewall side tray being my one battery to even weight distribution a bit. The factory had a few different dual battery set-ups and mine only used the auxiliary battery when under high draw, not for starting.

Here's a schematic of the dual setup in my Suburban. The batteries are only in parallel when the vehicle is started or running, otherwise they are separate. The battery tray, battery hold down clamp and bolt are all GM factory stuff. The solenoid is a Cole Hersee Part#24143 200 Amp Continuous Duty. Any questions, let me know.

Check out the reserve capacity Optima specifies on their website (http://www.optimabatteries.com/optima_edge/technical_specs.php). The highest is only 50. My batteries were a lot cheaper and are rated at 110RC each. So if you want Optimas, you need to buy two of them where otherwise you'd buy only one, increasing the price even more.

What I'm still trying to find out is the particular charging requirements for Optimas. The manufacturer doesn't say (I wonder why?), and others give suggestions contradicting each other.

When using several batteries, don't mix them, i. e. use identical batteries. That means you're going to buy 4 at least of them if you want Optimas and have the same reserve capacity as before. That's a lot of money ...

dont believe the hype on optima, ive had 3 including the 2 thats in my truck now and if i dont start my truck up over the week end it will be dead monday morning. My startiing battery is a red top, and my other is a yellow top. i replaced my first yellow top with the red. i had the yellows for winch duty on my truck.

No problem. If you have any questions about how it's wired up let me know. I'm using a pair of Delco 78-7YR batteries.

The red is better for a vehicle, but the yellow is better for the winch. Ie red starting, yellow drain and recharge.

I have dual batteries in my 00 1500 showtruck. They're both red tops, and i have to change them out about every 2 years. I rarely drive it though, so that might be what's killing the batteries.

My 02 Suburban only has about 22k on the Odo so you can imagine it sits in the garage a lot. I never have had a starting problem with my Delcos and I just changed out the original batteries for new Delco's just a few months ago. I know a lot of people knock Delco batteries but I've never had anything but good luck with them. Knock on wood

Look into the Odyssey battery (Sears DieHard Platinum on sale the best buy on an Odyssey battery). Better than Optima improved tech.........
