: LBZ mouthpieces - I can get three
skleppy 01-22-2009, 02:09 PM As subj line says, I can get three, possible six LBZ mouthpieces. So far I'm guessing I'd be able to let them go for $125 shipped. Would anyone have any interests??? If you do post and PM me. If I have enough interest I'll pick them up for fellow members.
I know the cost is more that the Kodiak MPs, but shipping is the biggest part of this one remember. The Kodiak MPs are on back order and the LBZ MP doesn't have a timeline as of yet. I'll shell the dough out, but I don't want any left over though either as I've already done the mod.
teleskier 01-22-2009, 05:32 PM I would have interest PM sent
teleskier 01-22-2009, 05:44 PM Boy that was a tad harsh Jason. I took it as he is just trying to help out a few members who may be looking for a piece... LOL in light of the current non avail situation.
RTSMAX 01-22-2009, 06:09 PM Is $125 US or Canadian?
STONE RACER 01-22-2009, 06:14 PM Ill take one :beerchug:
briano 01-22-2009, 07:09 PM take this off line.
lock the thread.
have him edit his marketplace ad to suit the rules. done.
Skleppy..thanks for trying to help. Most of us appreciate it.
$.02
skleppy 01-22-2009, 07:41 PM Looks like I have to try and come to my own rescue.
I'm not going to be in any position to become a vendor as this is more than likely a one time deal. I have one interest in Florida...how much do you think shipping is going to cost me to send it from Vancouver Island to Florida??? Give your head a shake. I may lose money in that one, but I'll have to make it up in the end on one thats shipped closer.
Did I double post...yeah I guess I did. Am I trying to cicumvent any rules, nope...innocent mistake and if mods want to lock this thread down so be it. BUT...I have to lay out the money first to get the MPs purchased and shipped to me. Thats a good chunk of change to lay out and not have any comittments from anyone to buy anything. So yeah, two posts because I figured that someone may look in one but not the other, that was my reasoning. I'm not trying to piss anyone off or get rich here as is evident by the marketplace post.
Did I get into a pissing match with a mod in his thread...one comment, wouldn't really call that a pissing match. Having said that, the mod in question was stripped of his powers so in the end its what was deserved.
Could I make a ton of money by charging more for these than what I am...absolutely I could and I have no doubt that there would be people that would buy them. But I'll look after others first and think about me second, if I have the time. I found something that I tried as well as many others and we like it so I figured that if I could help out a few more people in the process...why not. If you want to make me the bad guy...I'm okay with that, I've been called worse and it doesn't really bother me a whole lot.
As briano put...thats my $.02
skleppy 01-22-2009, 08:04 PM Sorry, I thought you were talking about something else that happened a while back. No worries...but some of what I said though still hold true. I don't forsee myself losing any money but I'm not going to get rich either. I found some, figured I would spread the wealth around.
jrs_606 01-22-2009, 09:45 PM PM Sent!!!
skleppy 01-22-2009, 09:47 PM I'm just about to respond to everyone that PM'd me. It looks like I'll probably be able to get four in the end, I will know for sure how many in the am but I am already attempting to source more. NO PROMISES of anything though. The only reason I go these ones is I went back to the same place that sold me mine and I'm buying the rest of their stock.
As per the mods and the rules, I guess I was a bad boy and posted in for sale when I don't actually have them...YET. I'm trying to do a bunch of us Duramax lovers a favor. Not trying to get rich or piss anyone off in the process...but if I do along the way suck it up buttercup.
I will know everything in the am of the what and the when and everyone in line has PMs. I'm going to make some more calls in the morning to see if I can get anymore at all. I'll post success or not to let everyone know.
VTtransam 01-23-2009, 10:59 AM PM Sent...hopefully they aren't all gone!
Thanks!

If you have enough Ill take one!
skleppy 01-23-2009, 01:46 PM As much as I hate to say it, everything is spoken for and the first choice of backups are gone. I'm going to try one more thing to get a few more, but those ones will not be cheap. Basically the price would double...thats not me making money on those ones, that would be simply passing the cost on. But there is one member who is possible working on a deal to have an aftermarket vendor make these for us. The vendor had a number in their head of what they would sell in a month. In 24hrs, I've got two months worth of demand...so the demand is out there. That info has been passed on to the vendor courtesy of another member and we'll all have to wait and see what happens.
skleppy 01-23-2009, 03:36 PM This time I went to the dealer to see what I could get direct. I can get a total of twelve LBZ MPs and five Kodiak MPs all in Canada. However, this isn't the same source that I got the first four from so the price is more. They are $211.44 CDN across the desk each, but I didn't ask if they could hook me up if I ordered all seventeen. I could probably get them for less but I'd have to go back and ask again.
98011738 - LBZ MP 8 + 4 (two different warehouses)
98011736 - Kodiak MP 5
I have no problems ordering and shipping if you want them, and I take nothing for me so what I ever I would pay incl shipping thats all that you would pay.
The four that I got at $125 I kind of figured that they were a one time deal and thats exactly what they are. Rough math, 211.44 * 0.8 (exch) = 175 USD roughly. I don't know what KB charges for his never looked. If someone can chime in wheter his is more or less, then we all would know. Like I said, if you want them let me know and I can get them and forward them on to you.
randy_the_hack 01-23-2009, 04:33 PM The tough part here is that list price on these things in the US is like $68. Now... the fact that they're out of stock and unavailable is gonna be immaterial to the kooks that will cry foul if you try to sell 'em for $175.
Availability is another matter - and because of that, I'm betting that KB won't part with his apart from his IOH kits - I think those sell for like $299 IIRC.
Again... I paid $135 for my Kodiak mp back in the fall when it was reportedly the last on in the lower 48 at the time. Considering that price, $175 isn't all that more expensive, especially considering it's coming from Canada.
It would be interesting to see if you could get a deep discount for taking all 17 of 'em. If you could get them down in the $135-$150 price range, that might fly.
The other thing you could do is see if your first source could acquire them for you via a dealer transfer and then get them at the lower price. Just a thought.
skleppy 01-23-2009, 07:59 PM Randy I agree with you and I know what the prices were, trust me I looked to. As far as KB's kits I didn't know what they were going for so thanks for filling that in.
Availibility here is the key, and in the US there is nothing and many of us know that. Like I said, I'm not trying to sell anything whereby I am making money. The cost I posted earlier is the cost across the counter to me and if anyone wants to see a copy of the quote, by all means throw me a fax number or I can take a pic of it and email it to you. Shipping is a whole other matter.
I went back this afternoon to see if I could perhaps get a better price for the whole deal but the parts mgr had gone home for the day. He's back on monday but I'm at work so I will give him a call teusday morning to see if perhaps we could work out a prepaid deal for all seventeen. As far as the four that I have coming, they should start arriving about the middle of next week. I have the list in order of PMs I recieved and will respond accordingly.
A few people have requested the Kodiak MP at the higher price. I have no doubts on availability and they are about five days away as they are coming from Atlantic Canada, and the majority of the LBZ MPs would come from out there as well. Like I said, I will call on teusday am and ask the mgr and see what I can work out for all. We've got a pretty good relationship so he should be able to cut a good deal for me. I will post the results of what I come up with.

IHAVECRABS 01-24-2009, 08:10 AM 11th in line :D
hey skleppy, if you do get 11+ i'll take that 11th one even with the higher price.
WI Huck 01-24-2009, 09:03 AM I am working with AFE to get them to build these. They are in the process of making up their mind depending on the demand. Call Ed Rossi at 951-493-7142 and let him know that you are interested. He will either shoot me for this or love me. Who knows?
Skleppy prices sound right. I live in Vancouver and back last summer when this all started I called my local dealer and they found one in Calgary but quoted me somewhere around $260.00 CDN. So I called a Seattle dealer and they found a LBZ mouthpiece at a dealer in Ohio I think. So I called them and ordered it for $135.00 USD. That’s when everyone else was on back order from parts direct for $68.00 USD. I know that someone else from the USA posted that he had ordered one from Edmonton for like $260.00 CDN. So Skleppy dealer sounds like he was giving him a bit of a break on the price at $211.00 CDN. I think he is just doing everyone a favour and tracking some down and sending them out to you for cost which I think is a great thing to do.
Bruce
skleppy 01-26-2009, 01:11 AM For everyone watching this thread, I'll make a couple of calls tommorow. I've got one MP on its way already, three more should be out the door tomorrow. Those are the $125 ones that I could get. Unfortunatley, I could only get those four at that price. PM's have already spoken for them many times over and I will let you those know who have sent a msg.
For the other ones, like I posted earlier I am able to get another seventeen (12 LBZ and 5 Kodiak) MPs dealer direct but the price is higher - $211.44 CDN. There is the demand for all seventeen so the deal that I will try and pitch is to order all seventeen pre paid. Hopefully we can get a bulk discount on all of them and pre paying may help.
Also, Mark from Huckstrof made some calls to AFE and I will follow up with those tomorrow as well. With any luck we may not have to rely on GM for these much longer.
skleppy 01-27-2009, 11:52 AM Called my dealership contact again today, managed to get an even better price but...its a all or nothing deal sort of speak. They will order all 17 MPs, I will pick them up and ship them for what it costs and not cent more and each MP will be $199. But like I said, its an all or nothing deal. If its only sixteen, then its $211.
If you don't want to wait for a combined order, PM me. I can give you the dealerships number and then you can call them and give them my name. Have it ordered and paid for and I will ship it out to you. They can get 12 LBZ MP and 5 Kodiak MP. Exchanged you'd still be looking at about $165 US each plus shipping if we bought them as one lot. Still relatively inexpensive when you consider what this minor mod does for the truck itself.
I talked with Ed @ AFE this morning as well and told them of the demand for these. This has to go higher in the chain of AFE so my name was passed on. From what Ed said, he would like to see this done sooner than later but it would still take time from AFE's end to get it to market. AFE definetly has interest to make this as it would simply things on their end. They could conceivably build one intake to cover everything from 04.5 to 07. It would lower costs on their end, less tooling, less machining less storage etc.
I'm replying to some of the PMs I still have after I post this. I have two expressed interests for Kodiak MPs at the price I already posted earlier. Everyone knows roughly what an MP weighs, how big it is etc. I'll ship it by how ever you tell me because its your dime sort of speak. I'm just the facilitator here. Use postal code V9Y 5N7 for a start point for any shipping estimates. Canada Post is the postal service up here (www.canadapost.ca (http://www.canadapost.ca)) and DHL, UPS and Fed Ex are all in town as well. If we have interest, I'd like to set a target date of February 6 to get everyone paid up. If you want to pay by credit card at the dealership, again PM for info. MO would be preferable because then I don't have to eat any paypal fees for currency exchange and then funds withdrawl. If you want in, I will PM and email my info to you. If you want to use paypal, we can arrange it but add on a little extra for the fees they charge. If its done by MO though, if this doesn't go through I mail it back to you or contact you first to decide what you want to do. Order it at the one piece price and make up the difference, or just cancel.
skleppy 01-27-2009, 05:23 PM I have confirmation of the first batch, and its going to be four only at $125. Those are spoken for and I have PM'd all that got in first.
As for the others, if you have PM'd before I still have your PM in inbox and I will keep them until the first four are gone. If you want to be on the list for the new dealer batch, please send me another PM and indicate which one you want as well. There are 17 total available: 12 LBZ and 5 Kodiak. Indicate "new list" in the subject title and put your preference in the message. As posted before, I will wait until no later than Feb 6 to make the order but its an all or nothing deal for $199 Cdn...all 17 or they are $211 then. If I have enough to order before then, then it goes in. Four LBZ MPs are two business days out and the rest are five business days out. Once everything is all in order, we'll see what its going to be.
briano 01-27-2009, 11:14 PM Payment sent, thank you for doing this!
skleppy 01-28-2009, 09:44 AM PMs have been sent for the first four and I have received payment on two and waiting on the others.
As far as the dealer list, I have seven interested so far with one person wanting to order early to get it faster so thats eight in total. There are seventeen available so there are nine left. If everyone that wants one can let me know by this weekend, then I can do shipping quotes to all involved and start taking payments next week. If you are going to do credit card, to save me fees on paypal I'll just get you to call the dealership direct and make a payment. I set it up and confirmed with the parts manager that he's okay with that yesterday. If its cash we can do it thru paypal but add a small bit to cover paypals share of it. If you want to go go money order to, that would be okay as well.
Because shipping on these ones is costed to the buyer, I will ship however you want it to go. When I get payment and adress details I'll ask everyone to specify.
skleppy 01-28-2009, 12:45 PM As of now, I have interest in nine for the group purchase which is over half. I have one memeber (unconfirmed at this point) ordering on his own so that would be ten of seventeen. If I have the rest spoken for by friday, we can start taking payments this weekend after I do shipping quotes for everyone. If we have all of the payments by next friday (Feb 6), I will put the order in saturday morning and they will all arrive the following friday (Feb 13). I work out of town though so I won't be able to pick them up until the following wednesday (Feb 18), but once I do have them all then they will all ship that week on friday (Feb 20). Thats the long option. If I have all of the interest and payments by sunday, I can order monday (Feb 2); they arrive friday (Feb 6) and then ship the following monday (Feb 9).
If you do want to get in on this, I said this before but I will say it again...when you PM me please put "new list" in the subj line and indicate your preference (Kodiak or LBZ) in the body of the message. Its just so I can keep track and let everyone know whats still available.

NelsonDiesel 01-28-2009, 06:44 PM what part number are these?
skleppy 01-28-2009, 06:52 PM Thanks jtw for letting me know.
For the rest of us, that makes 16 available - 11 LBZ (98011738) and 5 Kodiak (98011736). I have ten spoken for already, nine LBZ and one Kodiak. Either one is a great addition to our trucks. There are slight differances between the two, one being size the Kodiak one is shorter and two you can put the 6.6 resonator on top if you use the Kodiak. If anyone else wants in, PM me with "new list" in the subj line and your preference in the msg.
Nelsondiesel I think that answers your question as well.
NelsonDiesel 01-28-2009, 07:14 PM i had to double check..... no stock available until march 27th .....
skleppy 01-28-2009, 07:40 PM At this point there is one more LBZ MP that is not spoken for, no one has stepped up for the Kodiaks though. 5 of those are available to be had.
NautiKev 01-28-2009, 09:50 PM Thanks jtw for letting me know.

I thought it was the other way around......with the LBZ you can keep your stock 6.6 resonator, but NOT with the Kodiak
rowdyruss 01-28-2009, 10:13 PM I thought it was the other way around......with the LBZ you can keep your stock 6.6 resonator, but NOT with the Kodiak
i believe you are correct sir
randy_the_hack 01-28-2009, 11:28 PM Yep - the Kodiak does NOT have a resonator port... so if you install a Kodiak mp, there's no way to mount the resonator.
Pics in my garage if anyone wants to see what it looks like sans resonator...
The other attractive part about the Kodiak is that you can install it without a coupler. Yeah, you can use a coupler and get a little bend out of the baffles... but the bend isn't bad. I have been told that it was unacceptable by some... but I can live with it.
skleppy 01-28-2009, 11:40 PM Thanks for correcting my guys, don't know what I was thinking on that one. 12hrs at work is a long day.
skleppy 01-29-2009, 04:24 PM JTW - PM sent about yours.
I've three out of my four shipping on saturday, just awaiting payment on the fourth one.
skleppy 01-29-2009, 06:11 PM I can understand that everyone that wants a new MP, wants it sooner than later. I have to go to work tonight but if you have PM'd me about getting a dealer direct one, PM me again with your zip/postal codes. Tomorrow I will work on shipping quotes for everyone that wants one and get them back to you. The sooner the we get the ball rolling on this the sooner they end up in your mailboxes. I will go through my PM's in the morning when I come home and if I don't have one from you I will send a msg to you. If anyone else wants one, so far I have requests for ten LBZ MPs so there's one left but no requests for any Kodiaks so there's still five of those left.
skleppy I'll do the pay pal in the am I want to thank you again for all the work you've done to make this happen can't wait to install it
skleppy 01-31-2009, 03:13 PM I saw on another post that another fellow Canuck had order his own LBZ MP so I thought that I had better check stock. I started this thread with 12 LBZs available and 5 Kodiak available. As of about eleven am this morning, there are only 5 LBZs left. If you want one, I'll ship it you pay it. I can PM you the contact info for my local dealership and then when it comes in I'll ship it for you (prepaid of course). There are still five of the Kodiaks available for anyone that wants one but the LBZs are going fast. I've sent a PM to those that sent me a msg with the pertinant info. When I spoke to the parts mgr last week even he was skeptical when I said this was a popular item. He's a believer now especially after I showed him the stock LLY MP.
skleppy 02-02-2009, 04:53 PM Its almost over...I called again today to check on orders and stock. Saturday there were five, today there was only one left. A week ago there were twelve. The kodiaks are still available if anyone wants one. I have not had anyone tell me that they ordered a kodiak so there should still be five of those left but I am sure the LBZ MPs...wait LBZ MP that is left will be gone by tomorrow or wednesday at the latest.
Hunnington 02-02-2009, 07:33 PM Ordered and paid for through the dealership this morning, 2-2-2009., an LBZ. I just PM you. I
E Mailed you my address, but I can PM if you need. Thanks again for looking out for some of us Overheaters.
skleppy 02-02-2009, 07:49 PM TO everyone that I have helped out so far...no worries. I just look at as a way to give back to the forum that has given me so much. From the combined knowledge on the forum, I know it has helped me three times avoid a tow to the dealership for what would be a simple roadside fix. Two were injector fix problems (pic fix) and I don't remember what the third was. I think it was "shift range inhibitied" on the cluster. New switch on the trans and a way I go. I'm only giving up my time but so many before me have given up their time to the forum as well. We as a community only get back what we put into it. This is my contribution/pay back.
skleppy 02-04-2009, 10:30 AM First ones went out on monday and teusday. I'll be picking up another five at the dealership next week when I get home from work.
I'll check stock again later this afternoon WRT the LBZ MP. Last time, there was only one left. Kodiaks are still available though if anyone is interested. These LBZ sure flew out the warehouse door some quick though.
skleppy 02-04-2009, 05:39 PM LBZ MPs are gone. Got a PM today from someone who tried to order one, and they are all gone. I was able to get six for other memebers, plus the four that I got and one other member that I found order one on his own. I can only assume that the other five were bought somewhere across the country as well.
I know there wasn't any interest it seems for the Kodiak MP, but if anyone wants one there are still five of those.
DieselBoy04' 02-04-2009, 11:31 PM so what's the price for the Kodiak MP. The same I'm sure but somewhere along the way I got confused on price...
skleppy 02-05-2009, 01:55 AM The ones from the dealer are the same price as the LBZ, $211 Cdn. If I could have sold all of them (LBZ & Kodiak) he was going to sell them for $199 but couldn't get everyone together before stock ran out.

skleppy 02-07-2009, 06:17 PM Enjoy guys. The last one of the first four should arrive by monday or teusday to the last memeber of the group that got the $125 pieces. If NM made it in five days, another one or two to Florida will be more than enough. I'll just say "your welcome" and leave it at that - you know who you are.
To all that ordered thru the dealership, I head back home from work tonight. I'll be there monday morning to pick them up and then take them home to package up. Once they are gone and on their way, I'll email (if you emailled me) or PM your tracking numbers (if applicable) to you. skleppy 02-09-2009, 08:29 PM I checked stock today to for Kodiak MPs and the warehouse was showing four, but one was ordered today so that should be three but I also have one unconfirmed order supposed to be being placed tomorrow morning. That should leave two Kodiak MPs by the end of the day tomorrow. If anyone else wants one before everything is sold out let me know.

Dennnis 02-15-2009, 01:44 PM I have a Kodiak MP that someone may buy if they want. I would prefer to sell in in Canada as they are about $300 with tax up here, and I feel sorry for my fellow Canadians. $100 plus shipping, that is what I paid for it. If no fellow Canadians want it, then it is up for grabbs.
I have installed a LBZ MP on my truck. Turbo lag is about 90% gone and the old "pothole throttle" is about 75% gone. Power increase? I dunno. Mpg? Too early to know. But it was well worth it in my opinion to get rid of the turbo lag. I hate turbo lag.
skleppy 02-18-2009, 11:34 PM As for the ones that were already purchased, the last one left today. There is one more available if anyone wants, but everyone should be rolling with new MPs by the beginning of the month at the latest.

Thats where the "your experience may differ" phrase comes in. HAHA thats funny, although your TC must have been on its last legs to begin with though I am guessing.
Do I have anymore available, not yet but I am going to see if I can possible get some tomorrow. Its by no means a sure thing, but I will make some calls and find out.
shifterkart31 02-25-2009, 11:29 PM Thanks I got mine yesterday. I will put it on this weekend.

yes it was. ;) the mouthpiece/intake was just the straw that broke the camels back.
so much for my triple disc converter...
WI Huck 03-04-2009, 09:05 AM I talked with AFE and they have a prototype made. It sounds promising, but I was told that they take their sweet time in development to avoid any problems before going into production. FYI
skleppy 03-04-2009, 02:19 PM I had talked with AFE when you gave me their info and he said he would send it up the chain but also get back to me. I never heard anything from them so I figured it might have been a dead issue. Its good to hear that its being pursued by them. Did they say or give a hint on production pricing?
yzfr1_brian 03-05-2009, 03:45 AM I have access to an LMM mouthpiece and any other intake parts I want off of it. Can I use any of it for a mod on my LLY? If so what parts would I want to use (airbox, etc.)? Thanks.
skleppy 03-05-2009, 05:12 AM All you would want is the mouthpiece off of the LMM. If you use the whole intake tract, then you'd have to have your truck flashed for the MAF that you'd have to change. Plus, you'd also have to start paying twice as much for your stock air filter.

Disclaimer: this comment does not address AFE directly, but the aftermarket industry.
This adds insult to injury! Aftermarket intake companies, with "million dollar flowbench facilities", allowed thousands of LLY owners to purchase $300 intakes that did nothing for them, except send dirt up the tract. Time? 5 years is enough time. These are big companies, with big people who must be surfing all day. I have an attic full of used intakes.
I wondered why these companies names were showing up on my caller ID (not AFE). I guess they still know how to use a telephone.
One company (nameless) with an "engineer" on a forum was having a pissing match with me defending their aftermarket intake for its "flow improvement". I won't get into the details here, but when i basically gave him this information, before it became public, he still dismissed it as invalid. I don't ask for much, certainly not this kind of corporate incompetence.
I guess I should applaud any company that might actually make something that helps its customer with the improvement they seek. Even if it happens 5 years after the problem surfaced. Go figure.
WI Huck 03-05-2009, 09:12 AM Just to be clear, the part we are talking about is the piece that goes onto the turbo directly and connects to the rest of the intake system. The aftermarket companies offering intake systems do not currently change this piece, they connect to it. It was discovered that the sharp bend in the factory part may be the cause of LLY overheating issues. That part was changed for the LBZ engines and has become a popular upgrade on the LLY engines. So much so that GM is having problems keeping them in stock. If you are in the camp that believes there is no benefit in aftermarket intake upgrades, this piece should still work with the stock parts.
byronbaumann 03-05-2009, 09:37 AM Skleppy, have any more mouthpieces yet? If so, I will take one. Where else can I find one if you don't have one? I have searched and just keep finding threads on how it performs, but not where to get one. Thanks.....
