We have a GMC 2004 HD Duramax, LB7, EC, SB. Our primary use for this truck will be for towing our new Wildcat Fifth Wheel which has not arrived at the dealer yet :). It is about 30' long and has an unloaded weight of about 8000.

So, my question is.. should we leave the truck stock or put on one of the aftermarket systems. We are looking at the Banks Six Gun or Stinger Kit or an Edge chip and Attitude with a monster exhaust.

If we are going to spend that much $$ we want to know that it really is going to be a good thing to do. So, pros and cons? fuel mileage, better or worse? etc.

Thanks!

I have virtually the same truck and a trailer of about the same dimensions. I am very pleased with the performance of my Edge Juice and slightly freer exhaust. If you want to spend the extra $$ to beef the tranny the sky is the limit, but for simple, economical and very useable power the Edge is going to be hard to beat.

I have the Van Aaken 90/150 Smartbox, I pulled my 13,000 pound fifth wheel up Jellico mountain on the 90 setting and the egt's never when above 1100. I also have 4" exhaust so I am sure that helped a little. I have a predator also but I can't tow on anything above 40hp setting or the egt's get to high. If you really want a good towing box without all the hype, get the Van Aaken.

I've got the Edge Juice set on level 1 (tow/haul) with a MBRP 4" exhaust. Towing about a 10,000 lb trailer and love this combination.
