: What chip?

Hi,it seems that my '95 Burb has a problem with it's chip.
According to the TSB, the chip should be replaced because of the problem with sometimes not shifting out of second gear after cold start.
So, now I'm wondering, if I have to replace the chip anyway, what the best option would be.
Can anyone give me any suggestions?
I'm looking more for economy and less to performance.
My Burb is a '95 GMC K2500.

Thanks for the help.

It could also be the 1-2 shift Solenoid in the transmission. They are not too hard to change after you drop the tranny pan. I was having that problem and it kept up until I changed the solenoid. At the time I did that I changed the 2-3 shift and value body too and I think there was like 2 other items inside I did. Made a big difference on the tranny operation.

What DTC's?
It might be the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) located tail shaft of the t-case on K-series, or the input speed sensor on the driverside of the tranny in that order. Sift solenoids are less likely to be intermittet.
DTC 85 ,undefined ratio indictes this or excessive slip in the front band.
DTC 86 and 87 are B shift solenoid stuck ON and OFF respectively. You will start in 2nd gear in this situation.

Check the wiring going down to your speed sensor . My truck would be fine at first , but hit the brakes or a bump and the darn thing would drop down to second . It took a few days of searching wires , but i found it , one of the wires had worn through and was shorting out , hence when you hit the brakes the wire shifted forward and rubbed , then to take off it might work again . It drove me insane . The insane has yet to wear off .

I've posted this in another thred.
The DTC is 87.
According to the TSB, the chip should be replaced.
Therefor my question: if I have to replace the chip, what would be the best one to install ?
As mentioned I prefer economy over performance.
BTW, check out cdmanualwarehouse.
I just got my '95 GMC manual on CD.
It's all in acrobat reader format.

I'm partial to Heath myself, might be easier though to get a Wester one I think Customs from Canada to EU might be less hassle. Any of the vendors in sigs are good JK is another supplier worth looking at. decision maker might be ease of getting into EU.

It's all in acrobat reader format.DTC 87 is the B shift solenoid stuck off. It makes line presure go to max and TCC disengage. I'd change the solenoid at $15 first. I just put one in this morning;) to clear DTC 87 on mine, that's what I get for reusing all the solenoids.LOL

I experience a small increase in fuel economy and huge increase in power with the Heath 2.0.
