When driving 65-70 mph, is it OK to drop the throttle and let the tranny drop down a gear. Of course when this is done the rpm's go up and the motor screams....is this bad for the d'max or can it take it?
Is it better to add a little throttle and let the turbo do the work?

Only a personal opinion. Give yourself plenty of leeway in any passing sitution so you don't have to make a imprint in the floorboards. If I stomp mine at 70 it will downshift and upshifts back pretty quick around redline. At 75 or so it won't downshift at all. Think the onboard electronic pack pretty much monitors engine ops to prevent damage and at same time giving maximum performance within design specs.
