I'm getting ready to install a Panasonic CN-NVD905U Double DIN Navi / DVD unit. My truck has the OE basic CD headunit with no Onstar or no OE Navi. I currently have the Metra GMOS-04 Interface Harness because that is what Best Buy sold me. Before I go splicing the harness & ripping apart my dash, is the GMOS-04 correct for my truck? Do I need the GMOS-01?

Let me know.

you have the right one but you can get cheaper one if you dont want the chimes

saves about a 100 bucks

Not true, the GMOS-01 is for non-amplified GM vehicles and the -04 is for the amplified vehicles. They both allow full functionality of on star and warning chimes as well as rap features. Price wise the should be pretty close to each other.

you will get static and annoying thumps through your speakers if you use the 04. get the 01 harness and you will be fine.

Did you trade out your 04 to an 01 and it went away? I have installed a bunch of each and with the exception of 1 -04 being DOA have not come accross this problem.

i used metra harnesses in a few of my buddies trucks and had problems with them. apparently they were labeled wrong and the 04 that was needed was really an 01. i called metra and they said the only difference in them was for the bose, they had a remote turn on in them for the bose amp. once the mislabeled 01 was exchanged for the correct 04, the static and thumping noise form the amp turning on was no longer present.
