How long should I expect out of the factory brakes? I know it depends on my driving habits, all I'm looking for is an estimate.

I've got 101,000 KLMs on mine (about 62,000 miles) Haven't even looked at em, so far.

There was a thread on brakes, a long time ago. Maybe a year?

45k miles so far, pulling trailer about 5k/year, no wear issues yet

Don't know if brakes are different now, but I have 70,000 miles on my 1999 2500 Silverado and they are fine. New Dmax being made this week, so I don't have to worry about those brakes anyhow. LOL

I've seen reports from guys going to near 80,000 on factory brakes. Obviously towing, hotrodding and rush hour will affect life. I've got 44,000 on my 03, do very little towing and haven't even given them a thought yet.

I've got 99,700 currently on my 2001 factory original brakes. They look to be around 80%. I do a lot of highway driving - been stop and go for the last year and a half and occasionally tow my 6x6x12 box trailer.

Sold my 02 with 75,000 miles of very hard brake use on it. Looked at the front pads just before I sold it and was amazed that they looked better than 60% left. I was lucky to get 20,000 on previous trucks.

Just had my tires rotated at 102100 miles and the brake pads still have at least another 50k in them. I'm on the original pads.

I trade-in every 3 years. Never had a brake issue and when traded pads are barely worn. Generally about 60 K on the vehicles.

I have 117k on my 02 ext. cab 4x4 D/A. Original brake pad still going strong. I went to the parts store at 100k and bought a set of "heavy duty" pads because I figured it would be good to swap em out. When I pulled a wheel off I noticed the stock pads were thicker then the new pads! So I left the stock pads on and will not change until needed. I estimate around 150k.

WOW!! That's awesome! GM finally got the brake issue sorted out that the C/K trucks were notorious for.

Mine were toast at 40K miles. All four roters badly scored both sides, rusted, and pitted, pads had roughly 40% left on them, but they had pieces missing from the surface of them. Mostly highway driving, and I'm not hard on the pedal either. Other than low pedal feel, truck never pulled to one side or did it feel like the brakes were hanging up. Decided to try GM/Delco parts one more time, if this doesn't work out I'll be looking at aftermarket. The only positve thing that come out of this was they found both rear axle seals leaking and replaced the e-brake shoes and seals under warranty and covered some of the labour costs of the brake job because of it.

I've got 45K on my brakes, and I was wondering because my friend is convinced that I need new brakes. He keeps hearing a squeek that I don't hear. I've never looked at them yet,but will this weekend to satisfy my curiosity.

my 02 has 90K miles and getting close to needing new pads. I'm hoping the rotors won't need replacing.

My 01 has 80,000 on them.... The Dealer checked them last week while it was on the rack..... pads have 45% wear..... equal all the way around.......

Gotta love it.... Our '99 Suburban would eat the front pads in 10,000 miles.....
